Does this trades seem fair or stupid?

At a recent show, i was offered some cards for trade. It took just 10 minutes, and i wondered if other guys would have done this. LMK and its ok if you want to call me a dope. It seemed fair to me- it just happened so fast that my mind wonders now.

I traded my PSA 10 UD Griffey RC #1, plus a PSA 8.5 Schmidt rookie for the following:

1965 PSA 8 Catfish Hunter Rookie
1970 SGC 88 Thurman Munson Rookie
1975 PSA 9 Gary Carter Rookie
$50.00 cash.

What do you think? rsr

I think they were pretty close, value-wise. Personally, I like the Schmidt & Griffey cards better but it's your call. If you like it, it's a good deal.
2.5 is pretty much my speed.

If you liked the deal at the time that is all that matters.

It is to late to worry about it now.

I like the trade in your favor. ...although you may never see another 1989 Griffey UD PSA 10 again, quite rare.
  • just a few additional points; i normally don't trade at shows. However the 75 Carter rookie PSA 9 was amazing. just jaw dropping - thought it might make a ten when reviewed. the Catfish was a solid 8 as well as the Munson. My Jr 10 was legit. i thought the Schmidt 8.5 was a bit overgraded to be honest. What is the Jr. PSA 10 pop btw? are there more tens than HRs he hit? LOL

The Jr 10 is never going up much from here. There are still thousands of sealed boxes and sets and they are cheap at this point so opening them and grading is no problem.

His Upper Deck may hold some value but as every year passes and he becomes a distant memory the hopes for price advancement fade. The older stars have much lower populations and at the end of the day that is what matters.

If there were 50,000 graded Mickey Mantle 1952 Topps the price would be a fraction of what it is.

There are a few cards from the late 80's and early 90's that may be big cards 20 years from now but not many and the 89 Upper Deck won't be one of them. I think this is more like the 1982 Topps Traded Cal Ripken. A tremendous card, an even more tremendous baseball player but simply way to many.

Going strictly by VCP you lost about fifty bucks ... not too bad. HOWEVER, if you like what you received then you did good. Reading your latest post, if the Carter gets bumped to a TEN, then you just hit a FRIGGIN GRAND SLAM my friend. Four to Five GRAND on that one!
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
