OT UPDATE--Fowl came back for an encore performance

People who live in the country might see this every day, but for someone who lives in the suburbs this was a little surprising. Too bad it wasn't November; I could have gathered up a few birds to make a nice spread.

you should see the deer that wander thru my suburban neighborhood, you could supply all your venison cravings during hunting season in one night.....
  • Deer, turkeys. You guys are small time. Wait until you get a dumpster diving/tipping bear in your neighborhood...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

    Afternoon,

LOL......................No wait until you get out of the Car, walk to the back sliding glass door with head down looking at phone, step through and the Little Voice says "what was that?", step back outside and get chased back into the House by very Pissed off Mama Bear !!!

Or as we did 5 years ago, have to Kill Yogi bear in the backyard because he was eating our chickens (Called Div Wildlife, they shot him with Pepper spray and Bean bags) but kept coming back, and then he followed our two 11 year olds into our yard twice!!! Felt bad, but killed it, ya "Frick wit my Kids", ya pay the price !!!!

Another fun scenario is walking out to the Car, Pitch Black, 4:30 AM and smell a Mountain Kitty (Mountain Lion for you City Folk), real strong and then hear movement in the bushes right next to the truck, Ran back in house, got a Rifle, woke the neihbors up with almost a full magazine that morning, missed him by inches !!!!

Looked outside this morning and there they were again! I am going to narrate the course of events for this one...

First, a few turkeys decided to perch on the railing of my deck...

    image

This one posed so that I could get a few cover page-worthy shots...

    image

Then one of them decided to be a real "turkey" and perch on my roof...

    image

A neighborhood cat came around and started chasing the bird around the yard...

    image

But the cat got tired and decided to lurk in the bushes and watch the turkeys strut about...

    image

One by one, the turkeys decided to join the trailblazer on my roof...

    image

Until I was hosting a rooftop blowout for fowl at my house...

    image

At this point, I went inside to get ready for work. When I left the house, the last of the birds was jumping ship to my neighbor's yard...

Our dog got a turkey years ago. One was in the backyard and Bear (our 85lb Australian Shepard) decided to chase one. He got him, didn't know what to do with it so he layed down on it and must of given it a heart attack because when he go up the thing was dead. He did not bite or attack it any other way.

In Louisiana, we would have already started making a roux for the gumbo.

  • Turkeys are nice looking birds. It's nice to see one with feathers on every once ina while.
