Unopened pack question...

I am new to the board and a renewed collector after inheriting my dad's old collection...
I am interested in buying some older (60's and 70's) unopened packs...my question is this...
When I buy, lets say, a 1968 Topps series 4 pack am I only getting cards from that series in the pack or can I also get any of the 3 series before the 4th as well?
