I would rather the Wilt Chamberlain becuase there are quite a few strong Jordan's that exist and long term I don't see that many more Mint condition Wilt Chamberlain's surfacing.

Both are awesome cards for sure.

I edited my post becuase I just checked the Jordan and it is over 10k. WOW! I intitally said the Chamberlain would finish higher but if these bids are real perhaps the Jordan will.

  • I would rather have the Chamberlain. Vintage baby! Not that I wouldn't take the Jordan if you gave it to me!

I agree with Dpeck. Because of scarcity I would rather have the Wilt. No doubt in my mind. Not even close. Let's assume that the VCP is equal on both ... I'd still rather the Wilt. I also agree that they are two real nice cards.

The Jordan is being pumped up past $6,100 by a zero feedback bidder. I would not be surpised if we see some bid retractions on this but who knows. If it does close above $10,000 that would be cool.

    VCP Wilt = $8,600

    VCP Jordan = $6,100

IMO it's amazing that the difference is only $2,500.00

I just checked and these are the PSA stats.

There are 27 copies graded a PSA 9 and 3 graded a PSA 10 for Wilt Chamberlain.

There are 2034 copies of the Michael Jordan in PSA 9 and 137 in PSA 10. Not to mention a ton of strong Jordan's in BGS and SGC holders.

I think long term a PSA 9 Chamberlain will be worth far more then a PSA 10 Jordan.

I can't imagine what a PSA 10 Chamberlain would go for. I would guess that is an easy 100k card.

    neither.

any seller involved in the movement of high profile collectible cards such as these, and who would prefer to load up their auction description with career facts and schlock instead of a scan of the CARD REVERSE is just a snake in the grass to me.....i wouldn't bid a red cent on any of this seller's stuff.

go have a peek at the PSA NM-MT 8 Aaron rookie currently at auction, it's a joke.

i vaguely remember this seller's name being mentioned here before and it wasn't complimentary, but i apologize if i'm wrong.

not like that ain't happened before. image
  • I am in the Wilt corner. Such a great card, and so hard to find in that condition. I did not even have to think about it!

  • Though I do not collect basketball older is better IMO. Also I am not a grader but it seems that both cards have the same slight L/R oc why does one get a 9 & one a 10?

    The Wilt all day long.

Wouldn't be surprised if that Jordan RC is being shilled big time. This seller doesn't exactly have a stellar reputation.

Ben Milch.....found the name and ID on prior threads here dating back to at least '08.

oh yeah, to answer the OP ?, i'd take a dead nuts (pun intended) centered Wilt anyday.

I'd take the Wilt any day. I don't think that's a very attractive Jordan 10 with that centering, seen better 8's than that one.

    "Molon Labe"

  • A perfectly centered 9 wilt is better than a 10 jordan.

Remember when you use to see 61 fleer packs on a semi regular basis? It seems like they've dried up much faster than 86 fleer, you just don't see them. I bet in 10 years, the wilt will be more valuable than the jordan.
  • Wilt - no question, hands down.

The Jordan PSA 10, while within PSA centering east/west guidlines, just doesn't have that "wow" eye appeal.

    Definitely the Chamberlain.

On another point, I know they are probably within the parameters of their grades, but neither card is centered particularly well for being a 9 or 10, respectively.

  • I'm also in the Wilt corner. The 61 Fleer are notorious for bad centering. The pops for PSA 9 will always be really low. For Jordan, as more packs get opened, there are going to be more PSA 10's coming.
  • Wilt for me as well.

Plenty of 86 Fleer packs still being ripped every month. cant say the same for '61 Fleer packs

    Don't forget quality vs. quantity.

MJ had a lot of the best that exists.

  • I am not a basketball collector but if I had to make a choice. I would go after the Chamberlain card. IMO the Chamberlain card looks like it is better centered then the Jordan. Also that Chamberlain card has more eye appeal. At least to me...
  • Wilt, all night long.....

The top bid on the Jordan was canceled. Will be interesting to see if the others back out and it drops back to the 6k+ range.

Wilt, there were not and will not likely be hoards of boxes/cases like with the 86 Fleer.
