1981 Donruss Golf

What was the collation like on this product? At 7 cards a pack and 36 packs a box there could be 3 complete sets with some leftovers if everything is decently collated, but I dont know if its true.
Also, how is the centering? Is the Nicklaus cards SP or anything?
Thanks upfront folks,
Arex

Collation is usually pretty good. So many OC cards though it is rarely worth breaking wax, that and the gum usually ruins one card per pack. Go buy anything you want already graded. Prices are so cheap now as opposed to 5 years ago when Tiger was hot it makes no sense to chase wax.

    Edit:
most PSA 9s sell for under $10, most under $5
PSA 10s only bring $20-$25 for the majority, and 8s aren't even worth considering at this point.

Very overproduced for the market at the time, Tiger's popularity pulled a ton out of storage and now almost everything is high pop, low value. Quite a change from 5-10 years ago.

Why does the 82 jack sell for more than the 81. Is 82 sp,

1982 was a much shorter print run than the 1981. Another reason 1983 was never done, just a $$ loser for Donruss I imagine.

Here is a lot that bears watching if you are looking to pick up some 9s from this set. I would guess that it should end around $125 or less, but we'll see...81 D Golf lot of PSA 9s
  • I made several sets from wax and yes the centering was tough on these.

The lot linked above was one by me for $69.93 including shipping. Not too bad $70 for 32 9's, only $2.19 each. Can't even get them graded for that, not too mention paying for the wax to cull them from!

I remember seeing some 81 donruss 10's selling for 1000 plus. David Graham #27 was the toughest in 9 and sold for 50 bucks in a 9. this was about 5 years ago.

82 was a much shorter print run. I graded 9 of the first 10 82 jack psa 10's and they sold for about 400-450 each then. not sure now. jack renner #11 was the toughest 82 in 9 followed by #44 mike reid , both these cards would sell for 75 plus in 9's
