MY NEW SET

51 bowman

HI folks,I just finished a project I never dreamed of accomplishing but thanks to BBCE I had the oppurtunity to purchase a 51 Bowman Football set from him at the National. Then being that the set has only 144 cards and the appeal of the set was so strong I decided to spurge just one more time and send the entire set for grading except the 4 that were already graded.I then upgraded a couple others ,one was a miscut. The 6 cards that are 4 or lower I can not find graded or a little steep like the Van Brocklin rookie and Sammy Baugh however that might come along later.I was a little dissapointed in the grading consistency however.
I not a proffesional by no means but have sold enough ehere I feel pretty confindent in my grading. For a majority of the cards the fronts were the best I have ever seen from that vintage however the centering was iffy and there was evidence of gum stain either at the bottom of the card or at the top many of those must have been sold in penny paks.Would a gum stain make that much of an impact. The set grades out just below a 6 EX-MT.
Take a look and enjoy. Please let me have your opinions.

Thanks,Tony

Outstanding job with the set! Thanks for scanning all the cards.

Your comment on the Y.A. Tittle card was very humorous. The picture certainly gives us a good idea of what lies ahead for ol' Y.A.

    Tony my friend,

THAT is one hell of a nice looking set! Don't think you could put together a much better set in that grade. Enjoy it.

Tony, I remember how happy you were to get this set at the National. Congrats on getting it graded and good luck with any additional upgrades you are able to make to it. image

    Congrats!

It's one of my favorite FB sets and eventually/hopefully I'll complete mine some day..
