  • Log on to your paypal via paypal.com and check to see if you have any open cases. It looks like a real email, but you can check to see if you actually have a case open with that number.

That is really the only way to get your real answer.

When in doubt, never do what the email says, and NEVER click any links in it. Call Paypal, or email them via the website's Customer Service info, and confirm that this is from them.

  • I got the same email about a year ago.

DO NOT CLICK on the link in any email to access Paypal. If paypal has a problem with you. I am sure you will read about it after you login to paypal through your link not the one provided in an email. I wouldn't trust any link in an email. I assume the link that email will send you to will not be the real paypal. Scammers will set up sites to get your info through sites that look like paypal but are not really paypal.

Also I remember reading paypal will never email you asking you to click on a link to provide your personal information.

    Edit: Typos
  • also, paypal knows you by name(dear john doe,not dear customer).great advise,do not log into anything from an email.

"we require some additional information" is the scammers basic line.

Notice the copyright date. Legitimate email from Paypal would say 2011, not 2010.

Did the email address you by your real name, not your Paypal account name? If not, scam.

You should always look at the email headers, which people who don't use text email programs always disable. You'll see that the email came from someplace else.

I have received that or a similar email in the past.

A buddy of mine received it to, but he clicked on the link and entered his info...what a mess.

When in doubt keep entering info like passwords, emails, date of birth, SS#, etc. Eventually you will give enough info to finally log in and see what is truly going on via the link in these emails. image

To see if the email is legit, forward it to spoof@paypal.com. If its a phishing scam, Paypal will get back to you immediately. Also, look for spelling errors----its amazing how they can do something so obviously stupid, like spell Paypal "Paypall"
  • LOL Look what just came in my junk box....

Now the funny part about the email is I went into paypal.com and PP didn't have my account under review. In fact PP has now upgraded my PP account to some new thing called Paypal Advantage Status??? Now that seems far from account under review LOL. These scammers will never give up.
