Can I get some opinions on this Mel Ott Rookie?

Hi,

I picked this up at an auction the other day. I know its in terrible shape, and it's been trimmed, I'm just wondering if it's real. Also, what does the stamp on the back mean? Any and all opinions/information is welcome. If it is fake, can you let me know how you can tell?

Thanks,
R-Mac

    It looks ok.
  • its real, but its not his rookie. These would all qualify as his true r.c:
    1929 Exhibits 4-in-1,
    1929 Kashin R316,
    1929Leader Novelty Candy Co.

  • The stamp means: On Jan 31, 1954 someone put a stamp on the card.

Or it could have been a gift for someone and given on Jan 31, 1954.

    It bacially means nothing.

Haha, alright, I thought maybe it was a reprint or something from then, I don't know. Glad to know it means nothing.

I agree. It's real but border has been trimmed. Stamp means nothing.

Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.
