Show Off Your Mariano Riveras (and Congrats on 600 Saves)

In honor of this milestone, I thought a quick appreciation thread for the greatest closer ever was in order. When I was 15 years old, I had the pleasure of working with Mo at his first public appearance right after the 1996 World Series. Mariano brought his (now) wife with him, Clara. She was extremely nice and we chatted for quite a while. So, after Mo signed a bunch of cards for me, I asked Clara to sign one. Sort of a neat collectible I'm many others do not have. I'm curious how PSA/DNA was able to authenticate it though :-)

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
One of my favorite pieces. Still need to get it framed.
I have a signed Yankees Yearbook that I got IP and framed as well, but still have never taken a pic of it.

<< <i>602 now he is the all time saves leader. Now we can say that there is with no doubt, he is the greatest closer of all time. >>
I listened to the game on the radio this afternoon and the very FIRST commercial they went to after the game was John Sterling pimping Steiner signed baseballs of Rivera @ $199.99
disgusting

I was at the 2000 Yankees ticker tape parade and the NY TV news stations were set up next to us. They were interviewing players as they went by on the floats. When Penny (A local new woman at the time) went up to Mariano and asked him a question. Mariano said "Penny why are you wearing a Yankees hat? I thought you were a Mets fan." He was laughing. She never replied and her smile went to a pissed off look. She turned away as he was laughing. It was priceless and something I will never forget.
At a concert a while back, Metallica used Rivera highlights as their own intro to the song: Sandman
This is the only graded Mo Rivera card I've got. I don't really need any others.

All this said, I can't bring myself to own his RC card. It's such an ugly card IMHO. Chinos and a golf shirt? Plus, the overall design of the card really blows. It shouldn't really matter, but I do place some value on a card's aesthetics, and that one has absolutely zero IMHO.
How do you think Keith feels about THIS card?

<< <i>I'm a Yankee "hatter", but you gotta love Rivera. He's the man, and I'm glad he's finally the MLB saves leader. It's also cool that he's the last player left, and the last player that will ever wear number 42. >>
I always thought it was cool that Mo would be the last to wear 42. I think he wears that number well.
Check this out.
OC Jackie gets the #1 but check out the runner up...
The first time I noticed him, post game he walked right through the Boston crowd that watched the players leave the park in their vehicles. I told him "Good game" as NO ONE even noticed him!!
I saw the Audi parked in the same spot the next night and tried to get a ball signed when I greeted him, but he had a book and was carrying a bat so he politely declined. Again, no one even recognized him.
The last night of the series, I didn't see the caah paahked outside. I waited by the lower level entrance, as people cleared out of the park and things went quiet. The Yankees started walking
through the lower level with their luggage heading towards the buses. Once I saw Mariano, I just bolted back into the park with a RC card. I called his name and caught up with him, he was sort of surprised I guess. But he recognized me and gladly signed my Bowman card as I held his bottle of water.
What a great experience, and such a high class guy!! I am very happy for him to eclipse the record as I am a big fan of his (coming from a Red Sox fan!)
Thanks again and Congratulations Mr. Rivera!!
