Bob Lemke

In another thread --Dale Murphy's web site-Card Gallery-- we've discussed the inclusion of a 1976 Topps custom card created by Bob Lemke. Bob is a CU member and has spent many years contributing to the hobby. He posted on his blog a few days ago that he would be under going knee replacement surgery. I for one wish him a speedy recovery and want him to know his blog is one of my first stops every day.
Get well soon.

Best of luck Bob! Just think of all the customs you will be able to create while laid up!

    Good post Dennis.

I read this on his blog also.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

Thanks, all, for the well wishes and kind words.

I had the knee replacement on Thursday and am back home rehabbing the joint. It was truly a miracle of mdern medicine. I was able to take more than just a few steps by Friday, and by Saturday was able to climb a few steps, etc. Barring complications, once the big ole' gash on my knee heals, I'll be able to walk pain free (at least from THAT joint) for the first time in more than 10 years.

I did bring a bag of stuff home to work on a few customs. On the work bench now are Larry Doby and Duke Snider Expos coach's cards. Than I may either do a few more Sniders ('55B, '65T) or may get back into some football.

I understand the 2012 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards went to the printer on Wed., Sept. 7. The all-vintage book will have lots of stuff that had to be removed over the years to make room for all the new issues. The new edition was created from a new data base, so there are some seeming anomalies in the alphabetization, but the index should make everything easy to find.

I populated my blog through Sept. 23 by working ahead, and still have lots of great stuff to post there. I'll try to keep you all up to date with my customs as they are completed.
