Ladies and gentlemen:
I have updated my website (you can get to it in my signature line) today, September 13.
I have a blog section which I will use to comment on various aspects of the market. These "open ended" topics will be placed on my site, as to not waste bandwidth here sans commenting on the updates.
Updates will be sproadic based on the time that I have.
Thanks,
Greg

One interesting aspect of the Whister sale:
Lot 2, 1793 C-2 R3 VF25 realized $17,825. It sold 3 years previously in the Rouse sale (Goldberg 9/14/08 lot 4) for $24,150.
<< <i>I read your blog and I must admit that I was expecting something with a bit more depth. I used to collect half cents but I have sold all of my raw coins and only have a few slabbed pieces left. I was always a strong member of your "under $1K club". Of course that means I didn't have many early dates, mostly capped bust and braided hair. Some day I may come back to these but right now I'm hearing the call of the other oddball coins like trimes and half dimes.
There was not a lot of depth, because it was just a short, general observation since I have been collecting and dealing in them for over 15 years.
I also did not to overwhelm those who only have a casual interest in the series with price quotes, etc. that could be easily looked up on the Internet.
However, I want to thank you for reading it, and for taking the time for the suggestions.
Greg

When that coin came up in Ray's sale, that was a variety that "The Whister" had not had for a while. He never found the right coin in that range with nice color and surfaces, and perhaps a provenance (which I do not have in front of me right now).
If you also look at the ex: Wallace Lee coins, there were also some losses there such as the 1795 C-6b.
Perhaps I will put this up on the blog as well!!!
Have a nice day (off for the rest of the day).
