Monday, August 27, 1979 Oakland at Toronto...how to get video of this game??
Does anyone know how to get hold of video of this game? Toronto won the game and I know the winning pitcher (Phil Huffman)...he had a 1-hitter and would love to get a copy of this game.
Thanks for the help-

BTW, I like Phil Huffman since he pitched briefly (and I mean briefly) with the Orioles!

Well never say never. Best chance would be if someone taped it in either one of those two markets. Rare games pop up all the time. Never know what is sitting in a big box of beta tapes in someone's basement.

While torrent sites for music and movies are easy to find, it's not as easy for old sporting events. Many trades are still made via lists and snail mail.

and your assuming that the game was even televised (in either market)........not all games were televised back in '79 (as opposed to now where every game is)...
Oakland was so frugal back then, I wonder if they even had a TV deal

There's Ten Yard Torrents for football but I haven't been able to find a similar site for baseball games. It would be cool to have one though. Building a library of games by year would be cool. I'm sure most WS games back to the late 60s/early 70s survived somewhere.

Here is what is out in trading circles for the World Series:
1965, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972(Games 4 & 5-Game 5 Incomplete), 1973, 1974 and 1975. The ALCS and NLCS are pretty much non-existent until around 1977.
<< <i>I have boxes full of partial Yankee games from the 50s & 60s but unfortunately they are on 8mm. They were filmed by a family member. One day I will have to get someone to transfer them to something useful before they deteriorate into nothing. >>
Would love to see those. I can recommend a company that does amazing transfer work if you ever decide to go that route. I have used them many times and have always been satisfied.

Make sure you keep them stored in a cool, dark, dry place. My family 8mm movies sat in the basement for years and got moldy. We had them transfered to video but they couldn't remove the mold without removing the image. So there will be sections of the film that look like a flock of birds are flying across the screen.

Do you know where the 1971 WS is available?

I would like to get them done but they look so fragile. I don't want to ship them. I will need to find someone within driving distance. There must be at least 25 wooden boxes full of films. I watched a bunch of them when I was younger on my uncles projector, great stuff! I know two of the boxes are just Mantle and Maris when they had the home run race 1961. I just hope nothing has been damaged over the years. Is it possible to print photos from that type of film? If so I could make a really cool photo collection with action shots.

They are piled in boxes in a large walk-in closet at a relatives house. I keep Damprid in and around the boxes.

Well the place I use is in Pennsylvania so I'm not sure where you are located. I would do your homework before you pick a place to transfer them. You can find a place closer but their inexperience could damage your film more than a UPS or Fed Ex ride to Pennsylvania. Plus I doubt any local video studio is going to have the equipment this place does.

I have three games in my collection. Not sure if they are available via torrent site
it archived sitting in a storage room.
<< <i>I'm certainly not familiar with what is out there but for lack of any other ideas maybe the local TV affiliates televised or took some film of the game. Maybe they have

They might but they are also not in the business to share with you or me. I have acquired old NBA games from the 70's directly from the CBS vaults, but that is out the back door and at a cost of $300 to $400 per game.
