A whole mess of 1986 Topps baseball wax packs

Hi all. Just got 216 1986 Topps baseball unopened wax packs in the mail from BBCE. I collected these as a kid and thought it would be fun to open up the packs. As I recall, there was nothing all that notable about the set in terms of rookies, but was wondering if there are any cards worthy of being graded by PSA if they look like 9's or 10's. Thanks!

Here is a pic of the bin o' packs. I transferred them from the box to the bin. I also stopped by a local card shop and picked up a 1990 Topps wax box for kicks as well.

  • 86 was the first box I ever opened. Love those cards. There has to be some low pops with those tough borders. Good luck and post some scans!

1986 Topps, Im not sure if I opened more of them or 1987 topps! I dont believe there are any worthwhile Rookies but I do remember a PSA 10 Nolan Ryan being a tough card that fetched some decent cash, either way it will be fun tearing into them and bringing back some fun memories..
  • Lots of fun there! I love to rip 86 Topps.
  • I would be interested in any Schmidt that would grade out at SGC 96 or better.

IIRC Sandberg is a tough one.
Currently working on: Kurt Warner PSA 9 or 10

  • I've only gone through about 10 packs. BBCE said there were 216 packs, but when I sorted out all the packs into stacks (like a wax box) there were closer to 230 packs. Nice! Glad I ordered a 1982 Topps cello box from them as well! Not much to show so far in terms of star power, just this Kirby Puckett. I may open a couple packs of 1990 Topps just to change things up a bit.

If this design came out in the 60s or 70s it would be one of the best sets ever imho. Great, simple, clean. But, alas, it came out about the time the rain forests were being torn down in massive amounts lol

Kirby was very fun to watch.

As you open the 1990 Topps box, please keep the NNOF Thread in mind. image
  • Two packs, two Ryan's. Opened up one pack of 1990 Topps and got the Frank Thomas rookie. Too bad that it has the name!
