BU89?

I was recently checking some "auction prices realized" on PCGS for the 5-oz ATBs and saw that some items were graded BU89. I know that BU stands for Brilliant Uncirculated but I've never seen the designation 89 accompanying it. Some of these actually sold for more than MS69 specimens. I know that MS70 is perfection, so what is BU89? Thanks in advance.

Maybe something so Butt Ugly that it goes off the top of the Sheldon scale?

I've not seen 89 and PCGS doesn't have a listing for what code '89' represents on its site (that I've seen). Maybe this is just one of those "certified as BU but without a specific grade designation"? Just a guess. Some bulk submitters (such as the home shopping folks) sometimes get this sort of slab in bulk.

I got a PCGS currency type-o with a 88 grade. for VG someone hit the 8 too many times. on both the front and back. I guess its a better grade than a 70?
