Do I have a fraud risk?

I just sold a 1950 proof set on eBay. I posted an obverse and reverse picture of each coin and offered to provide more pictures upon request. I had a buyer email me asking for pictures and information about the holder the set came in. This seemed like an odd request, especially since I described the holder in the listing, but I didn't think much of it and sent him a picture. That buyer just emailed me again to say that four of the coins "don't look like proofs" and asking for a refund. Do I need to be concerned about him switching out the coins, or do I just have an idiot buyer who didn't look at the pictures and was expecting cameos? I'm not sure how to respond to this buyer.

If he's responding within your posted time frame, there's not much you can do but make sure the coins he returns are the ones you sent him before refunding his payment.

Refund and hopefully you will recieve back what you sent the guy. I always try to place a tamper seal or similiar on coins that are not in slabs to try to reduce a switch return.

Yes, refund after he returns them.

Some 1950 proofs have more of a satin look than a brilliant mirrored finish. Maybe this is the case and it's a buyer who's unaware of the different looks of early 1950s proof coins. Do you have pics or a link to the auction?

    Pretty clearly proofs.

Hope you don't get burned on the returns.

You can explain this to the buyer and perhaps educate him. Also, add that if he's still unhappy that you'll be happy to accept a return.

PayPal will look at before and after pictures as part of a claim. You may some risk, but good pictures could save the day.
