Mile High preview

Quickly looked through the lots in the upcoming Mile High auction. Looking like the past poor results are catching up with them, nothing spectacular and plenty of lower grade cards this time. Thinking people are getting leary of consigning to them.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

I thought sales from their last auction brought a pretty good chunk of change?

Afternoon,
Yeah, but have you heard the Horror stories of the Sellers getting their Gold, one example was 2+ Months after the auction had ended and still hadn't gotten paid.
I won't be consigning anything to them anytime in the near or far future.

Their spring auction had some big time cards in it. I wonder how many consignors are still waiting to be paid?
I know one.

Your kidding, you still haven't got your money? Did you ever get the Unsold cards back?
Neil
The cards are worth about $300, and the check is about 2k.
I was told in late June that I'd have in within a week. 2 months later.......

WOW .. that is just wrong. What does the Consignment Agreement state regarding payment from the sale of your items?

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

"6. Provided we received payment from the buyer within thirty (30) days after the end of the Auction, we will remit to you the "Net Proceeds" from the Memorabilia. The "Net Proceeds" consist of the amount of the total proceeds collected, less the commission, Buyers's Premium and any expenses. If the highest bidder fails to pay for any lot, we reserve the right to sell the lot to the next responsible underbidder as if such underbidder had been the highest bidder."
No time table is set in the contract.
The cards started to hit Ebay on June 2, with auctions ending on June 9. The buyer of the lot was Ebay'er "worldwideinvestments" who must have paid almost immediately if the Spring auction ended on May 19th.

Wow!!!!.....awful/embarrassing business
<< <i>I remember a thread about them quite a while back. Someone had a fairly rare set of cards and was assured his set would be the only one in the auction. They changed their mind when another became available and as a result they both sold for less than they would have otherwise. I think the gentleman in this instance also had a long delay before payment. Perhaps this gentleman could chime in and refresh my memory. >>
Pretty sure it was Rube and a '50 Bowman FB set.

didn't Andy Madec drop his own auction company and join Mile High? Andy seemed to be a quality person.
<< <i>I know World Wide Investments bought and paid for a 71 baseball set in the last Mile High auction. I was the underbidder, so if that was the item do not let them say it wasn't paid for. I go back to what I said in my original post, doubt collectors are rushing to consign with them. >>
The set was
1978 O-Pee-Chee baseball

I can attest to having this happen to me. Took 3 phone calls to them before I got my check. Almost as bad as the Mastro fiasco.

Yes, Andy did join mile high. His own company was running infrequent auctions and just didn't seem to have the
drawing power of the bigger names.
Andy has always been a stand-up guy, which tends to be a bit of a rarity in this industry.
