I think Beckett is hurting

I've NEVER received advertisement from them, and earlier today got a call for a "special" that includes return shipping and grading at a certain price (a person called, not a recording). It was a pretty decent price but like I said I've never never got any advertisement from them before...

Or they are doing well and have money to spend on advertisments?

It took me years, YEARS, to get off Beckett's spam email lists. Just the thought of their emails clogging my inbox again puts me in a bad mood.

I received the same phone call about 6 months ago.

Might be suprising but their prices on vintage mantles mid grade is very comparable to psa.
  • Maybe they are reaching out to a new kind of collector base?

They've been doing this for a while, i haven't been selected ever, their 'specials' aren't close to PSA's lately, this month isn't too bad (service level bump) but they rarely do any $5 specials anymore, apparently they don't have to...

Len Dykstra... or maybe they just use their own database.

All you people care about is graders and making money off of them. He's a human! Leave Dykstra alone!

Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

I heard they were doing payday lending and prepaid phone cards now.

I don't think that marketing your product means you are in financial trouble....sounds like a business strategy to me...

Frankly, I think posts like the OP made - totally based on speculation & procrastination - should be grounds for defamation.

If they were offering $3.00 grading specials or other insanely outrageous come-ons to generate revenue, then I might find some rational thought in the OP's comment. However, while not a BGS fan, I doubt that they're doing anything much different than they've been doing the past 6-12 months.

I think the OP is making a knee-jerk assumption based upon two circumstantial events.

Is PSA hurting because they've offered a $10.00 PSA/DNA special this month? I guess if they sent an email notification or called about it, some might jump to that conclusion, but I think most people understand what is going on...
  • Once again, I've never received advertisement or seen them offer specials, I figure if they are offering a special that works out to about $6 per card, that includes free shipping, they are pushing something.

I posted what I THOUGHT, if it is different than yours there is no need to try and start an argument which you seem to do all too often.

What happened to you not posting anything that prodded at anyone or even seemed argumentative? Didn't last very long I find that kind of funny.
