Question for Registry Player Collectors and odd-ball wax issues

Do you consider it fun, futile, a PITA, and/or a Lost Cause to rip odd-ball/non mainstream wax for the purpose of building your Registry?

Big Fan of: HOF Post War RC, Graded RCs

Fun. I think everyone should participate in at least 1 master player registry. It forces you to learn about all the sets for various years.
Successful transactions with: thedutymon, tsalems1, davidpuddy, probstein123, lodibrewfan, gododgersfan, dialj, jwgators, copperjj, larryp, hookem, boopotts, crimsontider, rogermnj, swartz1, Counselor

I am a huge fan of any oddball Gary Carter item and did the ripping thing -- was thrilled when I pulled a Carter but stopped due to the huge numbers of Cecil Espys, Cory Snyders, Mitch Websters, Kevin Seitzers etc..... that started to pile up.

Now I just grab them off of ebay

Sometimes I rip sometimes I don't. I rather have the card already graded but sometimes a great satisfaction comes from ripping a pack open with your son and pulling the player your hoping for. Subbing it to PSA and it coming back a 10! On the other hand I have dumped some coin at unopen and rarely pull the cards I needed.
