I keep seeing eBay auctions with NON-DESIGNATED VAMS ??

Now I am not a big VAM collector but I do need a few for my Morgan Registry Set and I see more and
more eBay auctions that advertise a Morgan with a VAM that is not designated on the TPG slab it is in and the
seller is saying that it is a VAM. What do I do? Should I buy the coin and hope that it is the VAM I am looking
for or continue on to find it in a PCGS slab designatged that way?? I have seen a seller on the Bay that says he
will give you a refund on any raw coin he sells if it comes back not the grade he says it is or better. hmm Brave
Sucker if you ask me. Was what I did today stupid or the right thing to do? I asked one of these sellers of a
NON-DESIGNATED slabed Morgan if I buy it and send it in and it comes back not what he says it is will he give
me a refund? I also told him that we both know that PCGS could take a month to do this but would he still refund
my purchase even tho his refund policy is 3 days.
Any Thoughts??

If you need reliability and credibility for variety attributions of coins you want, why not just do business through the Buy / Sell / Trade message board at Vamworld.com ? There is no shortage of experienced sellers there. Even frequenting there to network is far better than dealing with Joe Shmoe on fleaBay. BTW, what VAMS do you need? I have hundreds of them in varying condition.

PCGS doesn't attribute all VAMs, and it costs $34 to get them to add an attribution to an unattributed one that they do attribute ($24 attribution + $10 reholder), so unless there's a pretty juicy premium on a coin, the current owner isn't going to pony up that kind of money. As a result, you won't see many low-to-no premium coins like 1887 VAM 12 or 1880-S VAM 8 with attributions.

PM sent with my other thoughts.

Why don't you confirm (or not, as the case may be) the VAM designation yourself upon receipt of the coin and return the coin (or not) within the specified return period if it's not as described?

Cause I am a dummy and didn't think about that. I'll think about it but I would have to get someone
other than me to check it out.

    Thanks

all you need is VAM knowledge and good pictures.

or... there's that submit-to-grade or refund idea if you can swing that.
