Isabel II Reyna de las Espanas

I continue to explore the coinage of 18th and 19th century Spain. Here is a 1 real study piece, interesting as it appears to be a transition piece, using a young head of Isabel II on a "new" weight real. Appears to have been varnished at some point.

nice little coin, like the legend: Queen of the Spaines (plural) I'll guess they refer to the provinces of Castillië and Leon.

Old Spain and New Spain. Thing is, by the time of Isabel II, there wasn't much of New Spain left. Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines maybe.
