Through my job, I'm able to get tickets to our local minor league team (nice clubhouse seats). A couple of months ago, I made sure to reserve a couple of games when our team is playing the Hagerstown Suns so I could see Bryce Harper play and hopefully get an auto. A few weeks ago, Harper was sent up to AA.... Strike one...

Then as luck would have it, Stephen Strasburg is rehabbing with... The Hagerstown Suns! So I've got tickets for tomorrow and Tuesday, hoping to see him make a start (and grab an auto). What do I find out this morning? Yesterday, they sent Strasburg up to AAA.

If it wasn't for bad luck...

I know, I shouldn't complain about free tickets. I usually take a client with me too and we get great free food and always have a nice time.

I got to see Harper last week when they were playing against the Akron Aeros last week. He's a young punk. During the National Anthem, he was looking around, blowing huge bubbles, not paying attention, while the rest of his team stood and looked at the flag. During warm-ups, he was just standing by himself, while the rest of the team seemed to have a nice rapport and was talking to each other. He went 1 for 5 with a strikeout, and in his first at bat he bunted and flied out to the pitcher. Not sure why he was bunting, but if the coach told him to do that, then I'm guessing he flied out on purpose. Other than his one hit, the rest were lazy at-bats. He did throw out a guy at home though. I think he just needs to grow up a little, I'm sure he'll be decent in the majors in a couple years.

That's basically what I've heard too. But I'd still get an auto (if he'd even sign).

I had that happen to me at a Pawtucket Red Sox game last season with Strasburg. I think the Sunday before the Monday game it was a rain out and his start was pushed back.

I don't see Harper making it to the Majors for a few years... Only batting .256 right now at AA ball.... If he can't hit there, it will be a while..

That was an interesting game to attend... it was PuppyPalooza day, where you can bring your dog to the ballpark. We got to walk our dog around the field before the game. Pretty funny... anyway, sorry for the thread hijack!
