Box Searching Ideas

I do pennies all the time.

What else would be a good place to search. My bank doesnt order halves or dollar coins so they are out. Maybe quarters.?

Im still looking for minor items for my book so open to ideas.

Also what would you think would be the best denominations in order would be the most likely to find something interesting.

Here's my list of best denominations to search in order from best to worst (I've done every denomination before)

    1. Halves
    2. Cents
    3. Nickels
    4. Quarters
    5. Dimes
    6. Dollars (the small ones, I don't know how to get the large ones in bulk if possible)

Edited to add: Halves are hit or miss. Sometimes they're awesome, sometimes they totally suck. Cents are the way to go if you want the best odds of scoring something meaningful (i.e. a wheatie).

Maybe it's just me, but nearly every box of nickels I look through has at least a war nickel and/or a buffalo. And if you like early Jeffersons, there are plenty of those as well. Finding at least a war nickel or buffalo at least makes it more interesting to me than dimes or quarters. Dimes really have nothing besides a 30-50% chance for silver. The same for quarters, except for the fact that they're a good way to catch up on those missing state/territorial/NP issues.

I think nickels might be your next best thing to search.
Since your bank doesn't do halves or dollars your choices are nickels-dimes-quarters.
The nickels are low denomination so every $20 gets you 10 rolls to search so it's sort of like searching cents, not much money tied up and you get enough to keep you busy for a while.
You'll find a decent mix of dates (compared to dimes/quarters) plus you can still find some war nickels in the mix.
You can try filling some folders to kill the boredom, you might find everything minus the 50-d if you search enough rolls.

wide date range in nickel boxes.

try a different branch if your bank won't order half dollar nor dollars.

they can get them if they want to get them.

First- thanks for your reply to my die chip question. My main search denomination is dimes and have found many different chips, cuds and laminations. Due to my inability to take pic's and post them I can't send any images, this new computer with Windows 7 is kicking my arse. I may try nickels since I scored a War nickel in change the other day. Good luck with your book and maybe someday if my computer skills increaseimage I can contribute to an updated version.
