Question about VCP average

<< <i>PSA 5 Average: $14.99
9/28/08 eBay Image justcollectcards iofferings 1 $14.99
4/8/08 eBay Image mykeskardz isellhomeszach 4 $26.00
PSA 6 Average: $64.77
7/3/07 eBay $64.77
5/16/07 eBay $184.72
10/20/06 eBay $179.50 >>
I snagged the above from a VCP help thread. I'm confused by what VCP calls an "average". Based on the above, doesn't something appear to be off?
Based on my simple math skills, I would calculate that the PSA 5 Average should be $20.50 and the PSA 6 Average should be $143.00.
What am I missing here?

What KB said.
Avg is the average of all sales in the last year. If no sales in that time frame the default is the last sale no matter how old.
Why wouldn't they just average all sales?
In the example above, it may inaccurately deflate the perceived value of a card.

Craig, this is why it's important to also look at trend, meaning all past available data--not just the VCP average. If the card's pop is being blown out of the water by the likes of 4SC, for example, the average might be too low as the card may have lower to go with every new addition to the population in a particular grade.
