opinions on this psa 10

Hi,

I would like to get a few more opinions on this card. Its the 2005 Fleer Tradition #99 Derek Jeter PSA 10 card in this picture.

The seller is asking a lot more then I am willing to pay especially since there are 6 other examples floating around. Just curious if the card even looks like a 10 with the centering it has.

Centering's 55/45. That's within tolerance of the PSA 10 grade.

You obviously aren't thrilled with the centering. Why not wait until a no-doubter comes along?

If the card is more important than the fact that it's in a 10 holder....pass on it, you'll never be happy if with it if you are questioning! imageimage

For $50 + $3.50 ship I will pass on it. The L/R centering really bothers me. I guess it would be considered a low end PSA 10 then.
  • looks, like a 10, smells like a 10

If I purchase it for $53.50 and I use it as a set filler. Then another comes along (much better centering). I will never get back $53.50 on that card.

I am passing on it. However I did request a scan of the back or for the seller to confirm if the centering on the back is the same as the front.

Thank you everyone for your input thus far.

I think the right decision is to pass on it. Pop 7 now, with only room to increase; and possibly one with centering you really can live with.

  • I'm sorry, for me 45/55 is not gem. I would pass in a heartbeat.

Could someone point out a thread where someone is looking for opinions on a PSA 10 and the majority like the card?

Agreed. Most people don't really know what 55/45 looks like. This card is probably in the 53/47 range, and I'm sure it's nowhere near 60/40.

Well, I feel better, because I don't see the 60/40 either. To me, it's probably the 2nd best centered card of the 4 PSA 10's pictured. But they say the eyes are one of the first things to go.
  • Centering doen't bother me that much....price tag does. Can't imagine pop 7 Jeter PSA 10's being worth $50. Maybe I am missing something.

A registry set as big as the Jeter one you're involved in is a marathon, not a sprint. Wait for a 10 that doesn't bug you so much.

Speaking as a person who spends WAY too much on low-pop modern cards for my player set... PASS until the pop goes up a little. image

I agree, if the centering is not to your liking I would pass...

    sigh

Same seller has another card I was more interested in. A lot better centering. They usually start at a price and lower it every week it doesn't sell. This particular card is a pop 2 and last ended unsold $65 start bid. I was waiting for it to get in the $30-$40 range to pull the trigger. Well the card was relisted as a BIN $149 or BO. LOL! I was going to offer $40 but at a $149BIN or BO I think they will laugh at my $40 offer. I am going to wait. I refuse to overpay no matter how badly I need the card.
