This made my day.

always nice to receive a nice card in the mail which lives up to expectations and maybe even better, but it's an added bonus when it's a nice looking rookie card of a player whom i grew up admiring because he was just so darn good at what he did.

one of the best ever to roam the hot corner. enjoy.

One of the more youthful countenances on any card--he looks like he's 15 years old. Just a great, classic card. Nice!

    Hi Jeff

Very nice card! Are you gonna get it graded?

What grade did the seller assign? My guess? Exmt to Exmt+?

    Thanx for sharing.

thanks one and all for your comments, this is the first time in quite awhile i've had a Brooksie this nice, so yes it will eventually go in for grading and and become a new addition to my PSA collection.

in 1971, i was 9 years old and played shortstop for my LL team, the Orioles. image

of course, at the time i was very impressionable and developed a fondness for the Baltimore team and particularly the actions of their star 3rd baseman, so i started patterning my defensive game the way he did it, diving and leaping at grounders and line drives with reckless abandon.

late in the season, i made a move towards a grounder which carried me into the path of an oncoming baserunner and as i dove the kid crashed into me, breaking my left wrist.

i missed the last two games of the season. we finished 1 and 11.

    missed the playoffs.

i was the team MVP, though. that felt good. image
