entertaining article. he's certainly learned more about collectibles in the past 2 years. kind of miffed by him saying there aren't guys with killer NBA collections. just wait until my 1957-86 NBA and ABA Champion signed media guide collection is done. then he can go to hell. HA!!!
  • so true...

Bill has done a lot to promote the hobby over the past few years with his visits to the National. Even if he's poking fun at us, I still appreciate the free publicity.

  • Bill is getting very gray. Must be the pressure of Grantland getting to him.
  • Great article, I love that Simmons goes to the National now. I gotta live vicariously through him and the posts on here until I can get there one day myself. Seems like he has picked up a little knowledge about the hobby too, throwing around terms like PSA 6 and such.

Sad that he pokes fun at a dealer named Uncle Dick that had been selling at the National for 29 years...This dealer is a personal friend and does not need to be compared to a "porno" show. A lot of his other comments are very crude as well.

I don't think his comments are meant to be rude at all. His articles are always about TV shows or movies and he is usually making fun at himself. Probably because you have a personal relationship with the gentleman, it might have been taken the wrong way.

I sent a link of the article to uncle dick and he is very upset...poking fun at himself or the hobby is fine but don't make it personal.

I just read it again and he did not say anything that bad.
