what music do you listen to
that has precious metals in the title or lyrics?
anything goes, metal too!
Gratefeul Dead:
The Golden Road
Loser
Don't you push me baby,
Cause I'm all alone and you know I'm only in it for the gold
All that I am asking for is ten gold dollars
And I could pay you back with one good hand
Scarlet Begonias
The wind in the willows playing Tea for Two
The sky was yellow and the sun was blue
Strangers stopping strangers just to shake their hand
Everybody is playing in the heart of gold band
Heart of gold band
China Cat Sunflower
Look for awhile at the China Cat Sunflower
proud-walking jingle in the midnight sun
Copper-dome Bodhi drip a silver kimono
like a crazy-quilt stargown
through a dream night wind

Me and my uncle went ridin' down,
South Colorado, West Texas bound.
We stopped over in Santa Fe,
That bein' the point just about half way,
And you know it was the hottest part of the day.
I took the horses up to the stall,
Went to the barroom, ordered drinks for all.
Three days in the saddle, you know my body hurt,
It bein' summer, I took off my shirt,
And I tried to wash off some of that dusty dirt.
West Texas cowboys, they's all around,
With liquor and money, they're loaded down.
So soon after payday, know it seemed a shame;
You know my uncle, he starts a friendly game,
High-low jack and the winner take the hand.
My uncle starts winnin'; cowboys got sore.
One of them called him, and then two more,
Accused him of cheatin'; Oh no, it couldn't be.
I know my uncle, he's as honest as me,
And I'm as honest as a Denver man can be.
One of them cowboys, he starts to draw,
And I shot him down, Lord he never saw.
Shot me another, oh damn he won't grow old.
In the confusion, my uncle grabbed the gold,
And we high-tailed it down to Mexico.
I love those cowboys, I love their gold,
I loved my uncle, God rest his soul,
Taught me good, Lord, Taught me all I know
Taught me so well, I grabbed that gold
And I left his dead ass there by the side of the road.

Silver & Gold
The warden said:
"The exit is sold.
If you want a way out,
Silver and gold."
Captain and kings
In the ships hold
They came to collect
Silver and gold
Silver and gold
Oh man, it's just self control. (oo-hoo-oo!)
Dont gain the gold and lose your soul (just don't lose your soul)
Wisdom is better than silver and gold -
To the bridge (ooh-ooh!)
Fleetwood Mac - Gold Dust Woman
Metric's "Gold, Guns, Girls" (inspired by movie Scarface) alludes to the fantasy of ever having 'enough' PMs/power/control/whatever...it's always more & more & more & more & more.... never satisfied.
Even as a southern man, I enjoyed Neil Young's Heart of Gold and learned harmonica for the sole purpose of playing it while strumming the 6 string. [Tangent: Ironically, Metric's Emily Haines is a hippie born 40 years too late and does a wonderful cover of Young's during Buffalo Springfield years: Expecting to Fly.]

Well, I've got to run to keep from hidin',
And I'm bound to keep on ridin'.
And I've got one more silver dollar,
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no,
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider.
I... I came here by day, but I left here in darkness
And found you, found you on the way
And now, it is silver and silent, it is silver and cold
You, in somber resplendence, I hold
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Selling them whiskey and taking their gold
Knowledge is the enemy of fear
"Cold as the Clay"
Cold as the clay, dark as a mine,
Wasting away blood, sweat, and grime
Panning for gold, picking for dimes,
lying in wait for better times...

Knowledge is the enemy of fear
Well I was movin' down the road in my V-8 Ford,
I had a shine on my boots, I had my sideburns lowered.
With my New York brim and my gold tooth displayed,
Nobody give me trouble cause they know I got it made.
I'm bad, I'm nationwide.
Well I'm bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, I'm nationwide.

Iron Maiden Rainbow's Gold
Bruce Dickinson Navigate the seas of the sun
Purple gold and blue,
Living colours every hue,
Flowers in the garden of the gods
No one can ever know
If you never saw them grow
This darkness, is really full of light
An Older song that is still as relevant today and more so as the days pass by:
"Oh.... Yes oh Yes, there's something more, something more than Gold
to have your sins all under the blood is somthing more than Gold"
I first heard it when I was a child at church, an elderly man would stand and start singing that song
while he swung his arm and kinda rocked back and forth on his feet at the same time, repeating the refrains about six times through.
Its a very fond memory and a splended little song that contains a simple yet very meaningful statement.
Johnny rosin up your bow and play your fiddle hard
Cause hell's broke loose in Georgia and the devil deals the cards
And if you win you get this shiny fiddle made of gold
But if you lose the devil gets your soul.

more Maiden, "El Dorado"
Greed, lust and angry pride
It's the same old, same old ride
The smoke and mirrors visions that you see are just like me
I'm a banker's face
With just a letter out of place
I know someone just like you knows someone just like me
El Dorado come and play
El Dorado step this way
Take a ticket for the ride
El Dorado streets of gold
See those over sold
You've got one last chance to try
So gone is the glory
And gone is the gold
Well if you need a story
I've come it has to be told
He was a mighty golden boy, as gold as ever seen,
But when he stepped up to the podium, you could tell that boy was mean.
His arms was made of nickel, and his forehead made of wood.
An affidavit from the principal says,"this boy just ain't no good".
