That's an interesting point though. How does VCP distinguish between auctions of fake Mantles vs a legit auction? We all have seen obvious fakes go through the auction process and close with a final bid. Do those get captured in VCP pricing history?

Well there a ton of potential holes in VCP pricing. Shilled auctions or non-shilled auctions that don't actually complete are just two more examples. You just need to view the data with all of that in mind.

Our software pulls in all the new auctions and from there we have to approve it before it gets into the VCP system. On high dollar cards such as Cobb's, Wagner's, Ruth's, etc...and of course Mantle's we take a look at who the seller is and if it is a person with low sales then we check out what they have sold or bought in the past. We sniff out the scammers the same way you do and if we feel they are scamming then we do no add them to the VCP database.
