    interesting- I would think it has value but it would have to make its way to the right people/collectors- I have no idea what something like that could fetch- I suspect the value will depend when it was done

    It appears to be a once-silver-plated counterfeit Carlos IV 8 Reales from Mexico City with a George III oval counterstamp (also counterfeit). Might be worth $50-80 bucks to the specialized collector. There's a guy in St. Catharines who collects portrait counterfeits - let me know if you want his contact info.

    Roman- d'you think the counterfeiting is contemporary? Certainly doesn't look modern to me. image

    I would imagine that such a (contemporary) counterfeit would have some kind of value, to the right person.
