KENTUCKY BEATS TENNESSEE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 26 YEARS!!!! =)

Well folks, it's approaching that time of year again, when the Kentucky Wildcats will be READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!! Now we have now been in bowl games for the past five straight seasons and even won the first three. Only trouble is, they're all 6-7 win no-name bowls. Wouldn't it be nice for a change if maybe this is the year we get at least 8-9 wins and get into a bowl game that most people have actually heard of? And will this FINALLY be the year we knock Tennessee off their Rocky Top? Only one way to find out!

Well, we won our opening game against our fairly new rival Western Kentucky (why we don't play them every year in basketball I have no idea; it would make more sense). Certainly not as impressive of a win as I would've liked but we should be warmed up now! Just another Mickey Mouse game to go until we take on Loserville.

Indeed it is (both football and b-ball). In fact, we have to face four ranked teams out of five games, so we should know by mid-season whether we're really "for real" or not. I believe how the football schedule works is that we play the teams in our division (East) every year and the teams in the other division (West) every other year. So we should be seeing you guys in 2012. Shoot we can't even beat your rival (Auburn) this year either! Sorry!

And it looks like LSU is now in 4th place in the AP poll; they don't do the BCS one till about mid-season so for now that's the one we must go on. We upset LSU before in 2007; we can do it again!

How???? WHY????? How in God's name did we let ourselves get beat by that "other team"???? They're LOSERVILLE!!!! THEY SUCK!!!! Unfrickinbelieveable...

But no matter, we got three ranked teams in a row coming up, including the second best team in the land (we beat them before; we can do it again); perhaps a nice upset or two will make up for our humiliating performance yesterday? One can only hope...

Seems like your yearly jinx thread worked quicker this year than the previous 3-4 years. Don't have to hang on for the entire season like those past years to see which lower-tier bowl you qualified for.

But, at least you still have Jacksonville State on the schedule.

I don't see you calling any of the others that post these kinds of threads a "yearly jinx".

But in any event, we didn't even come close to upsetting any of those three ranked opponents and we are now officially the WORST team in the conference (even VANDERBILT!! is better than us!!).

Forget getting into a better bowl game (one more loss and we're mathematically assured of not getting one), I think we now just need to not completely lose our self-respect; at least we do that that final game that's always been a thorn on our side all these years...

And so with our loss to Georgia (though we certainly tried to hang in there with them, and for that I'm impressed, but you don't get the upset turning the ball over so much ), we were mathematically eliminated from going bowling this year. And we are now DEAD LAST in the division. But the good news is that Tennessee (normally a national title contender) hasn't done much better and so we may have a good shot at finally beating them for the first time in 26 years! Can we do it?

We can indeed do it!! After 26 years we FINALLY beat our conference rivals, and on our field to boot! Considering that we will not be going bowling for the first time in 5-6 years this is a fantastic way to end our season! Way to go Cats!!!

Now it's time to move on to our quest to bring home our eighth basketball championship!!
