The Reholdered Mick and a post National pickup......Grade is in on the Jordan RC.......

Decided to reholder the Mick at the National, it definitely looks better in a new holder. And the day after I got back, I found a Jordan RC at a local shop.

Enjoy.

Do you hold your breath, close your eyes or both when they take that baby out of holder and put into a new one? I wouldn't be able to watch.
  • After commenting on the other 'fake' Mantle thread, I had to come back and see the real deal. image
  • I don't know much about the Mantle rookie card. Is that a painting of him ?
And, why is the bat yellow ? Wood bats were never yellow. I like his Bowman rookie a lot better. This picture just looks weird to me,
but I'm surely in the minority.

Being an airbrushed pic, it certainly has some imperfections. It's not the best Mantle pic ever for sure.

I was told by several dealers that mine would be a lock 7.5 if not for the white print spots to the right & left of him. As is it's borderline, though a couple guys thought it was a 7.5 anyway.

Thanks for all the great comments, much appreciated!

  • is that Jordan a solid 8 with a shot at an 8.5? (upper right corner keeping it out of a 9 slab perhaps)

It's a painting based off of a real photograph. Beckett Baseball Magazine used the original photo on their October 1995 cover right after The Mick passed away.

Grade popped today on the Jordan RC: PSA 8.5. Graded spot on IMO.

Nice Jordan but I think it could be a 9. The $600 difference in price might justify a few more tries...

Nice cards! I was wondering about the paper loss(?) near the upper right corner of the Mantle. If it is paper loss, doesn't that usually knock the grade down more?

Um Ron....Do you have any of the more important Mantle's? Maybe the 1968 in a "7".image
  • As for the original Mantle pic, I couldn't resist...
