Don't look now, but it looks like there is a Vermont-P in MS69 to go along with the 2 New Yorks and the North Carolina.

Up to 4 and counting.......

  • Ouch, wonder what the guesses were for the contest, but it seems like these are realling starting to come out of the woodworks now.

I see the number of Delaware-P in MS68 is now 6, was 5. I may have to subscribe to the pop report again, kind of hard to use the set registry to find this stuff.

  • You can cheat on the coins in question by finding one in a registered set, since the Registry now shows number of coins in same grade and total higher. But I don't know how often that gets updated, and you have to have a feel for where to look to find a viewable coin. Of course, it can fool you. I had a MS-66 Kennedy that was tied for Finest Known. Then, a 1 appeared in the higher category and on the pop report it was a 68, not a 67.

Well, if you think it is a 70....

Interesting numbers though. I have a copy from Jan 25.

Here are the 3 that have 69's, number for 68/69 Jan 25 April 10

    NY-P was 43/1 now 88/2
    NC-P was 67/0 now 149/1
    VT-P was 69/0 now 131/1

You can see the tremendous increase in MS68's especially in the NC and VT. Some of these may have been crackouts. Certainly would be the case if they were Morgans.

I personally graded the VT(p) yesterday in PCGS-MS69. Wow, it hit the pop report faster than I learned of the success of my coin (I just learned of it late this afternoon)! image Wondercoin.

My view is that the prices on these may well continue to drop. I own 2 certified proof statehoods for the registry, and I buy one of each proof set for each year, and that's it for me. Oh, yes, I also try to find them in change to fill up a map. Oh, and I almost forgot, I bought one of those 9-11 New York's as well.

  • I also see that there is now an MS68 New Jersey state quarter. Will be very interesting to see what the final pop reports will be once the state quarter program is over. I think it might be better to wait until it is over to start this registry set (cheaper). What do you guys think about this?

    Sincerely,

    Chris

Interesting - the online pop report does not yet relect any of these new quarters (NJ-D 68, NC-P 69 or VT-P 69), but the set registry does - for each coin in a set it shows the pop number equal in grade nd the pop number of higher grade. I guess PCGS has two separate data bases.

Keith- I see where the number one Kennedy set owns that amazing MS68 (1966 regular issue) Kennedy. Must be amazing!

Mitch, I hope you meant to say you "had" that coin graded yesterday, and not that "you" graded it. Otherwise, you would probably get a slew of requests from you customers to "grade" their coins.
