Nice grab
Lot of Neat Stuff came up on Ebay Today. Wish I had some Money for the 28D that showed up but it is Way to Close to April 15.
Talk To You Later: Ken
I like your new '26-P and '27-S. It really was a good day for you!
Jim
Like I Said. I bought that Before the Screen Quit Moving.
Forgot to say that the 26P was on a Ebay Auction that Did Not Sell. Sent the Seller a Offer and He Accepted. Wish I would have kept all of the Info on Him because He Got it to Me in 4 Days plus it is a Nice Coin.
I am glad to see that you finally found a 39-S. BTW, you may need to rename your second set as having 50% FB doesnt qualify as a no bands set.... of course there is lots of nice toning...
Rick
Way to go.....it took a ittle time, but it was worth it.....

What have I been telling you? How many times do I have to say "You can obtain no more dimes until my collection approaches much closer to your set."? Then you have to go and once again disobey. Plus you disobeyed by acquiring some truly nice coins. Though I am no ardent toning fan, the originality of the 23-P and 26-P are especially nice. But that's not an excuse--you disobeyed! I think I speak for many of us when I say "No ebay for you for a while. And, go stand in the corner in time-out. We'll let you know when you can leave the corner and when you get look at ebay again."

Off to Heritage then David Lawrence then G.R.Tiso then Bowers then........................

You're gettin' down to to needin' coins that are a lot harder to get than that '39-S! Good luck in obtaining them.
You have my envy in closing in on completion!
Mark,
Do I have your permission to add the '24-S when it arrives? I doubt that it will put me past you.
Sorry to see you got knocked out of the top ten. That Poston Collection really bltitzed you!
Another Red Friday in which I'm not included!
I guess I should have entered the cert. # for the '24-S!
Regards,
Don
Winged Liberty and
You are Right. Down to the Hard Ones. Pocket Book Wise. Have all Except 16D..21P..21D and 26S. Have the Others in NGC Slabs but Will Not Crack Out just to get a PCGS Grade. Have neither Over Date or the 45 Micro which I think are going to be Required when Weighting Comes Online.
Any way if I had the Money for one of the Missing Dates I Do Not dare Buy It because "The Corner is A Very Lonely Place"
From the Coins Already Showing as Up-dated Now I Bet the Whole Page Will Be Red this Afternoon. All of the Folks are Really into Thier Sets and it is Enjoyable to Watch.
One GREAT bunch of Collectors and Just Glad to be Part of This Group !!!!
See Ya All Later: Ken
A 24-S is a worthy coin--add away. By the way, aren't you afraid that I'll add another Barber quarter to my "set" and burst past you?? I think I'll start taunting you about adding a Barber quarter so maybe you become distracted and spend money on Barber quarters rather than Mercs.
Re the Poston Collection: Yeah, there sure were a bunch of coins added. I don't recognize the owner as posting on the boards. (And I immediately apologize if I haven't connected a collection to a poster!) It sure would be nice if the owner would join in and add to the harassment we offer each other! More seriously, I don't understand why someone would actively participate in the registry and not on the boards. It's fun to watch people you "talk" to progress by adding coins and hearing the triumphs of finding a coin. For instance, I think Ken hitting 90% completion is truly neat. And, when the rest of us also hit 90%, that will be even more fun! If I just added coins to my registry set, I'd miss out on all that as well as the rest of the wit and wisdom offered on these boards. But, to each his or her own...
Mark
Now that you are up against the big money coins, will you be adding to your #2 set more? You still need the rush of seeing the red "Updated" next to your name.....
By Now You Should Know I am a PUSH OVER for these Little Jewels. RUSH from Up-Dating ?? Not Me !!! and I am Always Truthful.
Take Care: Ken
I know what you mean about the no bands coins. Fortunately I just picked up a 23-P MS66 pop 9, none better in no bands. Have you noticed that common 40s Mercs in 67 no bands are going up in price? I just need a couple of those, but I cant seem to find a 44-D or a 45. Everyone thinks their 45-P has some percentage of bands that makes it worth more...NOT! 98% is still no bands.
Guess I'll have to start checking out the BST board if you're finding coins like those.
Jim
So from now on my additions will come pretty slowly.
Welcome and Please join in with Us if You Choose. This is One Great Group of Collectors as You Probably Already have noticed.
Hey do You have a First Name ? The Forumn Handle is a Little Cold IMO.
Take Care: Ken
I echo Ken's welcome. Plus, I suspect that at some time you and I will see each other while we are standing next to each other in the Salvation Army food lines after spending ourselves into abject poverty.
Mark (Of-the-"Rush-family-collection"-whom-you-so-coldly-shoved-down-a-notch-on-the-registry-without-a-second's-hesitation-and-who-now-must-spend-more-money-in-an-effort-to-try-to-move-back-up-and-it's-a-real-pain-typing-in-hypens-between-every-word.)
You Have Been in Excellent Form with Your Posts this Week !!!!!
Way Cool: Ken
Nice set and nice move! You are in the midst of one ACTIVE group! Being right ahead of Mark, I'd keep my eye on the rear-view! As you can see, he likes to add them MS67FBs. He also has a sharp and prolific pen!
Nice addition, Mark! Love them 67FBs!!!
I recieved the '24-S, yesterday, and entered it. Too late for "red Friday", though!

Don
MS67 Winged Liberty Heads with Full Split Bands and
We all watched you zoon up the charts. I have been trying to hang in the top 20 for about 4 months now. This is an amazing group of really great people here.
Is it time to start a new thread.... for instance, what do you have coming in for the Next Red Friday. It seems this group has made that day a theme!! That and poverty from buying...LOL
Welcome
Anywho,DeepCoin i myself have only 1 coin that im waiting on the grade PCGS,and i did a no no,i cracked it fron an NGC holder and removed some specks of carbon, looks much better but a tad dull.An $800.00 coin
ANd I promise not to add any more until Mark does, well except maybe the 35 s&d i should get next week
Oh and then there's the (never mind can't give away all the information at once).
It seems that PCGs has a new favorite grade (au58) or a least thats what I have gotten on the last
4 dimes I sent.Anyone else have a similiar experience??
Don't Forget if Your Set is Close to Mark's You Must Ask Permission to enter a Coin. He will then Determine if the Coin is Worthy.
Adolph's Little Ladies Rule: Ken
Welcome to what has to be the fastest growing Registry group. Congratulations on the impressive gains you've made in the past week.
I feel your pain (and Mark's), as to being poor; I just mailed Uncle Sam a check that could have been used to buy a '21 P or D in 64FB, and property taxes are due by the end of the month.
I also wonder if the influx of new Merc registry sets will exert upward pressure on prices. Probably not on the common dates, but possibly for the better dates. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
Jim
You'd better not wait for me to add coins before you do because just like Jim (Cocoinut) I am sending my next several month's coin-buying money to the IRS. Boy, if Uncle Sam collected mercs, he could buy a some truly nice coins with the $$$ that some of us are sending him. And, as for Ken's (Fairlaneman) comment that one must gain my permission before adding a coin...yeah, right! How many times have I given permission? Zero!! And how many coins have been added? Infinite (or so it seems)!! I echo Pat's (PVetter) comment that no one gives a signal when they pass me.
Now, more seriously, I agree that AU58 is a favored PCGS grade--a couple of weeks ago I added the only Merc I've personally had slabbed by PCGS, one I bought 35 years ago. It graded the famous AU58. Now, I suspect it probably does deserve this grade, but I could still wish for something higher.
Also seriously, I echo everyone's comments that it's fun watching our sets move (slowly in my case) toward completion. It's a kick to share Ken's pleasure at finding a desired coin and I can sympathize with Dennis's displeasure about the results for his 20-D. Plus I think it's a lot more enjoyable to spend time conversing with others who have the same interest than to spend time flaming someone with whom I disagree.
