Plz check his latest MSG to me, 1st Ebay Purchase, Help!!!!

ok things are going terribly wrong.

To Update if you havnt been following:

I purchased 5 boxes of junk wax, Paid 10$ shipping per meduim flat rate box to my friend in MA(Cause he refused to ship to South Africa). Boxes failed to arrive, I contacted seller, he was unable to provide a tracking number and later confirmed he had not payd for tracking... He then said I need not file a claim, he will refund me if it hasnt arrived by Friday(2Day).

He Emails me yesterday saying

they all came back to me today marked return to sender
so what can we do? im now out the s/h i wanna make you happy on this deal and i also want to sell you as many more as you want but there must be a problem with the address you had me send them to thank god they came back to me because i didnt pay for a tracking number

Ok, from here, I asked him if he would rather just ship me 3 boxes, at a flat rate internatioal priority $45 per box, which has max weight of 20lb(9kg) and he sais that each box weighs more than that, and now he keeps telling me that he is out $55 on the shipping to my friend in MA. I get the feeling he wants me to compensate him for the 55$, HE said he never paid for tracking, a flat rate priority box comes standard with tracking from what I can tell, can anyone suggest how I should proceed?

I sent a 'tester' Email to him asking him to resend it to my friend to see what he said about the $55? Personally I think he is talking absolute BS out his F* AHole.... here is the link to the item i purchased: Ebay Linky

Do not send him any more money. How much did you spend? I would NOW file a Paypal claim, and cut off any further dealings.

In the future, I would stay away from those type of auctions. It's really random what you would be getting, and you would likely get a ton of crap. I mean I realize it's junk wax, but even junk wax can be, well, junk.

Not sure. It is possible you gave a wrong or incomplete address, since you are likely not use to US addresses, but it is kinda strange they arrived back the day before the refund was going to be issued.

Possibly the best solution is to ask that he return all but half of the $55...giving him the benifit of the doult as he has a good history, and the fault likely lies in the middle of you two.

You have the power to force a full refund of course.

If you only sent $135...then I would like file a claim for a refund now as Jeff noted. That only leaves $5 for shipping ($26 x 5 = $130). So maybe he chose not to complete the deal for that reason?

  • I wonder what the tone of this thread would be like if thedutymon was the seller.
  • i payed 17.40 per box for 5 boxes = $87 plus the 9.95$ shipping per box(9.95 x5) =.... $135 give or take a few cents

    Thanks

  • IMO THe facts:

the 9.95 shipping per box, is for flat rate priority mail which includes tracking.(I might be wrong here but from the USPS.com website this is wat i figured out)

He admitted to not paying for a tracking number- Which is as simple as the reciept number(again according to USPS.com)

He is trying something funny... (IMO he thinks i am retarded(On 2nd thought my spelling is really bad and might lead someone to think i am not intellegint enough to understand when I am be taken round the block))

    Thanks

You should limit yourself to auctions that will ship to your home address. I bet he regrets agreeing to this arrangement. Sounds like way more trouble than it's worth.

1acid is telling the truth...from sales history:

    a***1( 1 ) US $17.40 5 Jul-20-11 01:44:45 PDT

the 5 after the $17.40 is the quantity purchased.

file the claim, you'll get your $$ back after he can't produce a tracking #.
  • Thank you image

Unfortunately now comes the tough bit, its my moms paypal account must i call her up now and tell her to log into her account and file a dispute?

    Thanks again

Like everyone else has said. Do not send any more money. File a dispute with Paypal and do not agree to anything other than all of your monies back including the original cost and the shipping cost. Even if the seller is uncooperative, ebay and Paypal will side with you and should give you everything back.

Please keep in mind, that this could be a scam. He may have never sent anything, but wants you to pay for the $50 shipping that he actually never spent.

Sellers who list auctions like this ARE scammers (in my opinion). They prey off of inexperienced buyers.

Did he say WHY it was marked return to sender?

When you gave him the address, was it formatted like this?

    Firstname Lastname
    123 Main St
    Boston MA 12345
  • No the Address is not marked exactly like that, and here is why..

Just before purchasing the item attempted to change my ebay address to my friends address so that when i bought the item that would show up as the default shipping address. However When I entered her address in the form of:

    Firstname Lastname
    123 Main St
    Boston MA 12345

It brought up a box saying something like - According the USPS records this address does not exist, did you mean:

    Firstname Lastname
    123 Main St
    Boston MA 12345
    Boston MA 12345-2006
    United States

I looked at it, and I was like thats her name, and thats the street she gave me, so it must be right. After enquiring with her wether this address would suffice, she thought it was odd, but thought that it was quiet clear on where it was intended to go...

    Thanks

This shouldn't have made all five packages undeliverable. Again, I don't believe the seller ever sent anything. It sounds to me that he is trying to prey on you since he knows you are new to the ebay world. But with all of us on your side, you are not new. Have you made the paypal dispute yet?

  • Thanks Very much Don, I tried Calling my mom already, but it is getting late here now, so I will go visit her 1st thing in the morning, shes not far from me and I will assist her in filing the Claim. I did already file the claim thing on Ebay though.

BTW yeah, I also think this guy saw sum1 who looked like he could easily be taken advantage of and decided to try his luck, unfortunately I think he lucked out here. Infact I am going to make it my personal goal( even if I never buy another baseball or football card from anyone every again) That I will try my absolute best to ruin this guys name and will register on as many forums as i possibly can(my work is very borring) and make sure that every one on Earth knows what kind of scum this guy is and hpoefully he will struggle to sell his stupid ebay items... Im so bleak I almost want nothing to do with this hobby after all the scammers & fraudsters it makes it really tough for sum1 like me to navigate it all...

I tried looking around ebay as well as BBCE to find something that I could spend my refunded money on and unfortunately couldnt really find anything that got me particularly interested, its so vast, different sets, blaster packs, booster, I barely know WTF they are talking about.... I was hoping this purchase would be a good way to get some older stuff, open some packs and begin a simple collection without breaking the bank, now I just feel like walking away...

Thanks for the support though Don, and everyone else, Theres not much that can take this sour taste outta my mouth(maybe my package thats getting hand delivered in Sept)

But anyways thanks for all the help

    Keep well

Wait a minute, I certainly wouldn't smear this guy's name everywhere, or at least until you a full refund in hand. In fact, I wouldn't even leave negative feedback until ebay has sided with you and given you a full refund. Please make sure to be very professional and honest with your dealings with ebay. After you get a full refund, then you are free to do what you want.

  • What would you suggest i do when he sends this?

PErsonally I am tempted to take his offer, but I am sure this will lead to this exact same scam in the future, to me it is now quiet clear that he is 100% scammer...

    Dear 1acid85,

look i am willing to be more than fair i do not shiup out of the usa you went ahead and boguht the items before i could get back to your email i sent them to the address you gave me and the got returned to me so i am out 55.00 thats not fair but i am willing to eat the 55.00 and give you a full refund just to end this but what i am not willing to do is give you a full refund and i eat the 55.00 in s/h and then you give me negative feedback so what i will be willing to do is grant you a full refund today so you will not need to wait the 21 days for the claim and i will do that as long as you agree to leave me a 5 star psoitive feedback on the items as soon as i see that you have left me 5 star positve feedbaCK for all of the items i will then grant you a full refund for all money that you have sent to me and i will take the loiss of 55.00 for the s/h and mark it up to the cost of doing business now i think that is more than fair i will wait for your responce

Yes I agree it probably is not necessary to smear the sellers name to every forum you can find. You really don't have any solid proof that he is scamming you, just the possibility. Leave the smear campaign for the true, proven con men. I would recommend you file the claim, get your refund and forget about this guy. Then do a little studying on what you want to collect and find a friend familiar with ebay to help you with your next purchase.

Of course if you don't even trust yourself with your mother's paypal log in information then maybe you should avoid buying anything at all for awhile.
  • grote15grote15 Posts: 29,691 ✭✭✭✭✭
Can you ask him to scan you the return of one of the boxes? How do you know he didn't ship these out? If the boxes were returned to him, he is out $55 and you should be apologizing to him. I think it's very premature to be saying that you're going to go out of your way to ruin this guy's reputation when he is a seller with an established track record and you had a feedback of zero. Situations like these are why sellers don't want to have low feedback buyers bid on their auctions. You have no proof that he is scamming you and already you're out to ruin his reputation, even though a) he never told you he'd ship to South Africa nd you bid anyway and b) he agreed to ship to your friend's address but is now telling you the boxes came back and he's out the postage. If he is lying to you, that's one thing, but I'd at least give him the benefit of the doubt before defaming him. JMO..

Why don't you have your own PayPal account first off? I understand that english may not be your first language also but a lot of what you are posting just doesn't make sense.

Make the seller send you scans of the return labels if he is trying to dispute you gave him correct information.

Also that last post sounds like he is giving you a full refund so what is the question, take the refund.

Dont waste your time, it's painful on both ends and there isn't enough evidence to justify a smear campaign. Bottome line, your new to eBay and requested an abnormal shipping destination along with a Paypal account that isn't yours. Yes, unfortunately this purchase went bad. Have whomever file the claim and see what happens.
  • Ok he keeps sends me messages now asking me to leave 5 star feedback and sais if I do he will refund the money:

IMO this is how this person got such a good sellers record. IMO he never had the item, he never shipped anything, he was hoping to refund me the money less the shipping and make himself some money without actually doing anything, although I might be wrong?

To have a Paypal account you do not need a CC. You could also use a bank account or bank/debit card as well. CC is better because you could charge back and dispute through your CC company. Which will 99% of the time work in your favor even if Paypal won't work with you. Basically you need something or somewhere you can add funds for paypal to have an account.

Far as this whole ebay junk wax deal. I dunno why you bothered to get "junk wax" on ebay. The BBCE would have been the first place I would have looked.

Far as FB. I would not leave any feedback for the seller until you are fully refunded. Not to give you a refund until you leave FB is a lame move on a seller's part IMO. I would never go that route as a ebay seller.

Again do not leave feedback until you are fully refunded.

  • dontippetdontippet Posts: 2,606 ✭✭✭✭
I wouldn't leave feedback either. I would just dispute it. When you do, one of two things will happen. The first is that you will never hear from the seller again and you will only be hearing from ebay. The second is that the seller will play the victim card and say something like, "Well, now you've done it. Now, you're not getting any refunds." Don't worry about either one. Ebay will take care of you. They will refund anything and everything that was on the original auction deal.
