What athlete have you discontinued collecting because of something stupid they may have done?

Either in sports(gambling, "alleged" steroids, etc...) or outside the game(scandals, legal issues,etc...) Love to hear who you have dumped and why....or....if you have done the "stand by your man" thing! image And why?

if i discontinued collecting pictures of athletes because they did something stupid, i would no longer possess any pictures of athletes.
  • I ONLY collect guys who do stupid sh*t and/or stay in trouble with the law...Straw, LT (the original LT), Mike Vick, Charles Barkley, Dennis Rodman, OJ, etc.

I dumped all my Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens cards once it was pretty clear they were lying about what they had taken. But part of it was because I was pretty sure their cards would drop in value over time, and that has turned out to be the case.

And yet, strangely, I continue to hold on to my Pete Rose RC.

Favre - I used to have over 9,000 individual cards. I have kept the rookies and sold off nearly 8000 cards.

Rafael Palmeiro used to be my favorite player. I believed him through his Congressional testimony. I was looking forward to his having 3000 hits and 600 home runs. Then his steroid test came back positive, and I've dumped him.

I collected Rick Mirer AND Tim Couch for a time, so if their play on the field counts as something stupid, sign me up.

I started collecting Chuck Knoblauch when he was a rookie with the Twins and had a good start on having all of his cards. Then he really changed his attitude toward the collectors and fans. Finally he just seemed like he was a goofball and I quit buying his cards. Soon after he signed a contract with the Twins he wanted out, went to the Yankees and the rest is history.

Anyone want to buy a couple of his ROY mini bats? LOL

Hate to say it, but loved the headlines when he had his meltdown. I didn't take pleasure in his throwing problems though, and thought he was poorly treated when he returned as a Yankee and played here in left field.

At one time this guy looked like he was going to have a great career!

Chuck was a jerk from day one. He played for the Orlando Sun Rays when he was in Double AA and my twin brother Bill got a broken bat from him. He barely would sign for anyone and reluctantly signed the bat.

Pete Rose. After it became clear that he was lying. I gave up on him and sold off all my Pete Rose cards (including his rc).

For me, in the 1950s, it was all a matter of the team. If you got traded away from the Milwaukee Braves, you were dead to me.
