I have been seeing more and more slabbed coins here in Australia.
Of course, many of the dealers with slabs for sale will display slabs from reputable companies like PCGS side-by-side with basement slabs like SGS and NNC. They either don't know the difference or are assuming and hoping that most Australian collectors don't know the difference.
I've only ever seen one slabbed coin brought along to either of the monthly coin club meetings I attend, and they rarely get a mention in the national coin magazine. So on that basis, I would surmise that most collectors here are still ignorant of the concept.

I'm a bit of a slab enthusiast and almost all my high grade coins are in slabs these days. Because of this I tend to think it's taken off a lot more down here in Australia more than it really has. I recently attended two major coin shows and there really was only one dealer at each show who had a decent selection of slabbed coins. It really is more of an online phenomenon down here, with most of those pushing TPG coins online being 'new' dealers, while 'established' dealers still stick with raw coins. Hasn't dampened my enthusiasm for it though, it's actually rather addictive!
Successful trades with Syracusian, DeiGratia, LordM, WWW, theboz11, CCC2010, Hyperion, ajaan, wybrit, Dennis88 and many others.

Apparently I have been awarded the DPOTD twice.
