"Double-Sealed" Pandas

I can't believe how the silver panda market has just exploded. Last year it was nowhere near these prices. Bubble?

And then you have a premium placed on mint sealed, or "double-sealed" ones. Aren't these just bullion? Amazing.

I completely agree. It makes me sick to my stomach when I see some of the prices for the silver kilos. I remember not too long (not even a year) ago the most expensive silver kilo Panda was like $1,800 and the later issues selling for $800-$1000 (before the silver surge of course). Now, the absolute least expensive one is like $3,000. Theres a 98' and a 99' on Ebay right now and both sellers want over $10,000 for them! Even if I were a multi-millionaire I wouldn't buy them at these stupid and riciculous prices. Alot of them arn't rare at all but of course all sellers insist that every Panda coin is rare.
  • I have always liked the Pandas, but to me it seems like a bubble. Buyers are paying a huge premium... for a plastic wrapper?

I can understand the proofs fetching a hefty premium, but not for bullion coins.

FWIW... virtually every eBay Panda sale I've made over the past 2 years has either been direct to China or IMO headed in that direction through a proxy buyer.
