I am really excited about the article in this issue of SMR regarding my Santo collection. I had the honor of meeting with Ron a couple times when he came to St. Louis. I hope you guys enjoy the article.

I would love to hear Ronnie go off on the Cubs with their terrible play this year. He never pulled any punches. If you ever want to watch a good documentrey catch "This Old Cub".

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

<< <i>Thank guys. Hoping to make the trip out to NY in July for the induction. >>
I was just going to ask you if you were making the trip this summer!!!!! Have you ever been? Cooperstown is baseball heaven, and Induction Weekend is the holy grail. Love that little town, hence my nickname. Grew up a little over an hour from Cooperstown, and have been to many, many HOF induction weekends. Plan on making the trip this year.
Thanks also Robby.

Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
Great collection, and thanks for all the scans on your registry page. Now that you've done the "show" part I'd love to hear some more about the "show." I'd love to hear the story behind some of the rarest cards.
What's the 1961 Wilson?
How about the 1964 Challenge?
What are some of the more interesting stories about your collection? Which cards are your favorites? Which are your least favorite?
Congrats on a great collection and having it highlighted!

Thanks a lot Drew. It is funny you mention the 61 Wilson. That one is one of the rarest items in my set. Definitely not the most valuable. I have never seen one raw on ebay unsigned by Ron. I acquired this one through another Santo collector who retired his set. The more common version is the 8 by 10 Wilson. As far as the Challenge cards, the 65 is the tougher of the 2. They are just hard to find period and even more so in gradeable condition as they were used in the game.
My least favorite cards are the milton bradley issues as they are ugly and plain. My favorite regular card is probably the 62.
My next quest over the Christmas break is to create/load a Santo showcase showing all my modern day cards.

<< <i>How much did you sink into your 1964 Topps Banquet (with Julian Javier)? The reason I ask is because I have that card on the way (raw) to add to my Cardinals team set. Very tough card, IMO. >>

I believe I paid 200 for that card.
