1916 or 1917 SL quarter.

Check this out on eBay.

Any way to tell whether its a '16?

16 or 17?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hair curl and shield rivets tell the difference.

Hmmm, I love the link comparing the 16 and 17, and my daughter and i had compared the dateless ones we had...and one was just a bit different from the rest--what do you guys think?

Im leaning that way as well, and frankly, its only because of this thread, and the link provided--that made me revisit it. hearing about the differences in the robe, the hair, the rivets, well thats one thing--but the 2 coins side by side--well, that made it a cake walk. Thanks to the board members--this was from a 90% trade I did off of craigslist, and i had already 2x2ed it as a Type 1 1917--but with a start because it just didnt look exactly like my other dateless 1917's. its now in a flip, in my "headed to PCGS stack" whenever i get the time to submit.

    ding ding ding

I think we have a winner. PCGS has and will slab dateless 1916's.

    See this post.

Kaelasdad, your coin is WITHOUT a doubt a 1916 standing quarter. I've cheeried and certified 4 of the beauties.

The coin in the original post is a 1917. BTW, if it had been a 1916, you would have been screwed out of your cherrypick by posting it here for review. I always wait till after the auction to post a link. :-)
