VAM 7 is not regarded as a significant coin (although the VAMworld pictures certainly look cool!) because it is not part of a recognized collecting subset (Top 100, Hot 50, etc.). That makes it essentially a curiosity piece. Being raw makes things worse; even the rarest vams tend to bring only about half as much raw as they do when they're in an attributed PCGS holder. NGC coins generally bring less, ANACS less yet, and all the others even less, to the point that they approach raw prices. I have four 1885-P VAM 7 prices in the VAMview database. (VQ stands for VamQuest auction, E is eBay, TT is Teletrade). As usual, the prices are not consistent, but as a group they tell me there is no premium for the variety. Bottom line: consider yourself doing well if you can sell your coin as an MS64 rather than as an MS63 or less, never mind the VAM aspect.
1885- 7 65 NGC Jun-07 VQ $135 1885- 7 65 ANACS Jun-08 E $81 1885- 7 63 PL NGC May-06 E $54 1885- 7 63 ANACS Mar-09 TT $63
