EAC members and/or Smart Copper People - Unusual Die Break/Crack/Chip(s)

Picked this up about a week ago and still haven't found any information for this particular die crack/chip/break.
Seeing how severe it is I know there will probably be many examples and stages, especially for as many were struck as a late-date.
Quite interesting to imagine the die surface at this point with enough break(s) to do this.
If anyone knows which newcomb this is that info would be greatly appreciated.
Also if anyone does large cent attribution for a reasonable fee, let me know. I have a few dozen from early to late date I'd like to get done in the next few months.

It seems to be an N-2, R1 , with the top of the "1" very close to the bust
& the curl touching the top of the "8" just left of the inner curve of the "8".
Agree with itsnotjustme that the rev. is a delaminated section where the
strike folded it back on itself. The legend outside the wreath was already
sinking causing a weak appearance at OF A and RICA.
Looks like the marks at the left rev are PMD.
This is just a WAG.

even better responses yet
i will concur with the folding of a lamination back onto the coin then being struck by the dies.
looks like the most logical answer for now
2 spots where the planchet would have needed to be folded make this seem quite confusing

<< <i>I think it was a large piece of lamination that completely detached from the previous coin struck and stuck on the die, implanting itself onto this coin when struck.------------------BigE >>
To test that theory you might weigh it. --Jerry
