90% set completion - Free grade poppage!

I had 13 free gradings for the 1955 Topps set (3) and ten 1955 Topps teaam sets. Recv'd 6/29/11, just popped.

Line # Item # Grade Description
1 1 NEAR MINT 7 1955 TOPPS 145 ELMER VALO image bought raw from fieldertigers84
2 1 VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT 4 1955 TOPPS 200 JACK JENSEN image bought raw, ugh.
3 1 NEAR MINT 7 1955 TOPPS 206 PETE DALEY image bought raw from fieldertigers84
4 1 EXCELLENT 5 1955 TOPPS 202 JIM OWENS bought raw, was very cheap
5 1 NEAR MINT-MINT 8 1955 TOPPS 97 CARLOS PAULA image !! my first ever 8 !!
6 1 NEAR MINT 7 1955 TOPPS 196 GALE WADE image bought raw from fieldertigers84
7 1 NEAR MINT 7 1955 TOPPS 103 CHARLIE WHITE image cracked out of SGC88
8 1 EXCELLENT+ 5.5 1955 TOPPS 158 TOM CARROLL bought raw, fair grade
9 1 NEAR MINT 7 1955 TOPPS 73 JACK SHEPARD image cracked out of PSA 6 holder
10 1 EXCELLENT 5 1955 TOPPS 180 CLEM LABINE image cracked out of PSA 5 holder
11 1 EXCELLENT-MINT 6 1955 TOPPS 27 BILLY GARDNER bought raw, fair grade
12 1 EXCELLENT-MINT 6 1955 TOPPS 69 ED BAILEY bought raw, fair grade
13 1 EXCELLENT-MINT 6 1955 TOPPS 94 RENO BERTOIA bought raw, fair grade

Not coincidentally, the NEAR MINT-MINT 8 is the first sent in from a batch of 1955's that I bought in person at a local shop, not Ebay, a first for me since I started collecting again this year. I lucked out in being able to pick through a just consigned batch. Needless to say, I'm thrilled, especially since I have 20+ more cards to submit just like it! image I'm fairly convinced that buying a raw 1955 Topps card off Ebay and getting a grade of PSA 8 or above is a remote possiblity.

I don't usually mention the EBAY sellers of raw cards that I buy, mostly because I've been burned by overgrading from the usual suspects, but I wanted to give a nod to the cards that I bought from fieldertigers84 back in May, advertised as part of an "EXMT/NRMT Set Break". All 7's, and high numbers 145, 196, and 206! They definitely made my submission.

Great job Chad. I have an 11 card "90% set completion" submission from my 1955 Topps set at PSA right now. I was wondering how long I might need to wait, mine logged on July 6th.

How many more do you need for your set?

    Thanks guys.

Tom, if my sub is any guide you only have 10 days of waiting left image I'm down to 7 cards needed to finish the set. I have 6 of them raw, just waiting for a $5 grading special (since I have 30 or so 1956 Topps waiting too). My set is 6's and 7's, though I still have about twelve 5's and a couple of 4's to deal with. I published my sets, but then realized that all of my comments for each card were public, and unpublished. I don't want that. Anyone know if its possible to remove "Owner's Comments" from the public view?

Thanks again, hope you get quick poppage image

Chad, congratulations on your results; especially, the ones submitted raw. Good luck finishing your sets. I am also waiting for the $5 special to finish up one of my sets.
