Anyone collect India?

I just joined the forum and was wondering if anyone collected coins from India?

Here are some of my coins that I recently got back from NGC. Can you share your coins too?

I collect the occasional medal and Ramatanka. I also admire the the tiger on the final coins of the Raj.

Yes, mostly British Raj and machine-made Native States, although I also go after the occasional gem or high-grade post Independence coins up to about 1980 or so.

I used to collect British India as well but now concentrate on the moderns and a little on the states.

I bought this from the man that wrote the Book referred to in the descriptions, this is a Plate medal for that book.

@SaorAlba, Bjorn, Cladking : Indian native states can get very interesting! Particularly with how the native states issued coinage with portraits of British Kings and over the years, progression from using native languages to only English. Particularly liked the portrait of Queen Victoria on coins issued by Bundi state.

@theBoz11: Wow! That's very cool! I was just reading an article about Benedetto Pistrucci, William Wyon and George IV!!! Those medals by William Wyon are very interesting!
I see it is under a section for trade on your website. Do you intend to trade that medal for something else?

That "site" has a For sale and Trade area. The photos are just from my album on the site and not for sale or trade. Sorry. I have several India pieces because I collect LIONS on coins, not because I collect India. I would have to dig them out of the safe to photo, I have high grade example such as you posted.

Here is an extremely rare Die mold Galvano of one of Pistrucci' s most famous Victorias.

Lovely visage, wot?

I have several 2 Annas (1841) and 1/4 rupees residing in the old SDB. Plus a handful of 1/4A as well (1862s and maybe 1874)

Here's one of the better 2A which I had.......what would it be worth today? $200+?

@MacCrimmon : That's a very nice coin! A MS 63 on HA sold for $69 recently.

@Silvereagle82 : The Ashrafi is a very beautiful coin and at such a good grades it looks really beautiful!
