Help identifying this vintage Yankees pennant:

Has anyone seen one like this? I've searched high and low on the web but haven't seen the same one. I think it's post 1947 since that was the first year of the top hat logo. Any help would be much appreciated!

Page 97 of the Vintage Pennant Price Guide (Egner, 2009) dates this pennant to the 1940s. It is rated as "Very Rare" with a "book value" of $275-$350 in nice shape.
    Hope that helps.

  • Thank you very much!!! Does it give any other info?

I've had this since I was a kid and always thought it was sixties era.
  • I wonder if it's a 1948 pennant to celebrate the Yank's World Series win in 1947. This would fit with the top hat logo which first came out in 1947.

I wish I could help more but that was the sum total of what the guide had in it.

If you would post the scan on the Network 54 Baseball Forum in the Memorabilia section I think you might be able to get more info. There are a few very knowledgeable pennant collectors that post there regularly.

Thanks for the excellent advice! A gentleman over on that site says it's a 1951. (He has others from the series that all date to this year.)

Glad I asked the right dudes!

Saw your post over there. Glad you got some input. The gentlemen who responded knows his stuff and has a lot of pennants and is a contributor to the price guide I believe.

  • Hey, I owe you a big thanks. A lot of guys won't give a noob much help. I really appreciate it.

I'm a collector but this pennant doesn't really fit with my other stuff. It's always nice to understand a piece's history before going about selling.
