NEW PSA HOLDERS....

Just a thought here, if PSA is unwilling to change there current holders why not, let the investor decide. Give me and you an opportunity to pick.

1) Current holders $8 per card

2) new tamper proof thicker holders, i.e. like BVG BGS, $9 per card

or something like that.

There's nothing wrong with the current holder.
  • No holder is tamper proof.

If PSA could change the holder from "somewhat tamper evident depending on the skill of the tamperer" to "extremely tamper evident", I, for one, would pay $1 more per holder.

Too many cards out there already graded. They made some decent changes already. The only improvement they can do now is use Super Glue to seal the edges image

I would like to see PSA use UV plastic in their holders.

I think psa has changed their holders personally.. they are 100x more difficult to crack out.. IMO

The new pack holders are great, imo, and will help limit wrapper tears.

Yeah, they are. They used to glue the two halves of their holders together and now they use ultrasonic welding. With the old holders, you could easily pry them apart with a screwdriver, but now you have to break the plastic to get into them. The new ones are far harder to open as well as far more tamper evident.

I have only tried to crack open two of the cards I have gotten graded from PSA and it was very tough. I am not comfortable trying anymore.

All this talk about a BGS holder being harder to crack is nonsense.

I have cracked out easily 25 cards from BGS holders and have even gotten one to crack all the way down the middle in half where I simply had to slip each side over the sleave inside.

Use wire cutters, and a large flat head screw driver and scissors for the sleave inside.

The current holder is just fine and I like the labeling at the top and I am just fine with a final score and not a break down.

I agree with others... I really dislike BGS holders - they are like bricks, big and bulky tuff to store or display.

That's how I crack all BGS holders...I simply place a standard driver head over center of the flip, running parallel to the length of the slab...one solid whack to the screwdriver hilt with a hammer and the case cracks down the middle...I've done a few dozen with no damage. The plastic is so rigid it always cracks before bowing.

UV filtering plastic and the ability to request mylar sleeves for say 50 cents extra. Some of my cards have mylar sleeves, some don't...and I don't quite know the rhyme or reason how the decision is made.

I hate the cargo carriers they call BGS slabs...I mean if I need to build a life raft, okay, but...

I've always found PSA slabs to be extremely easy to open. Take a thin-edged object like a screwdriver or knife and place the blade in the seam between the two halves of the slab. Twist the blade in the seam and you will separate the two halves. You can continue this all around the slab, or sometimes once you've separated enough, you can just pull apart the two halves. It's never taken me more than 4-5 seconds to open a PSA slab this way.
