With the National going on, is it a bad time to end items on Ebay??

I asked this question somewhere else, but it kinda got pushed to the side, so I figured I would ask it here. Would sellers benefit selling items and having them end while the National is going on for the people who aren't there, or would you just as soon wait until a later date?

I don't think it's a bad time. I think it's even better. I know I made a purchase on ebay from my hotel room at last years Nat. If you can't find it at the National, you can find it on the bay.

the National is a supplement.....tens of thousands of people will attend, which means several million will be at home, still waiting, still watching, and still buying.
  • we ran auctions last year...and they did well...still loads of eyeballs online

There will be thousands of collectors and dealers making the trip to the national. A significant percentage of these people also spend time searching and bidding on Ebay for cards and inventory and while on the road many people simply don't have the time or capability to use Ebay like they would at home. For some it serves as a nice mini vacation away from Ebay for a few days. If you end your auctions during that time you'll still get 100% of the stay at homes bidding on your cards, but you will lose a lot of bids from Ebay users attending the national who will do less or nothing at all with Ebay during that time. How could it possibly benefit a seller to have any of these bids missed?

    It depends.

the National will be open for business each day for a maximum of what, 8 hours? 10 hours?

    eBay is open 24/7.

you're telling me that a large cross-section of heavily obsessed people will just wash their hands of their binky for a few days? not me. image

I never thought about that. I have never been to a National, but I can't imagine any cards that they have could be lower than Ebay. if anything, I imagine a seller might match them if motivated, or be a little bit higher. I am picturing the vast majority of sellers being higher than Ebay. Correct me if I'm wrong......

I've paid less at any show I've attended including the national. Focusing a lot of money at one table helps and, of course, you have to negotiate. Still, even with all the attendees, the market is much smaller than ebay. Of course, a lot of the larger dealers won't deal with you. You kinda have to feel people out.
