Hi Im new to buying cards and need some help please

Hi there everyone, I am a new member here Im not sure if Im posting this in the correct section but lets try, let me maybe begin by telling you a bit about myself:

I am a 25yr old male from South Africa, I have very little experience and knowlege about american sports memrobilia except for the fact that some things are worth massive amounts.

I am looking for some assistance in identifying wether an item listed on Ebay is legit or not:

I am thinking of beggining to try collect some old cards and thought that buying sealed boxes, wax packs would be the best option for me.Since deciding this I haev discovered that sealed packs are a scammers dream, I read up quite a bit about packs having been searched through to remove all the rares and then resealed and resold.....I was wondering if someone would possible have a look at this sale on Ebay as you would probrably have more experience with this stuff....

please let me know wat you think, wether its too expensive, too cheap or wether the are going to be resealed packs...

If you have any questions please let me know

Thanks

  • Those years (1988~1992) are what I refer to as junk era wax, there is so few boxes actually worth something there is no reason to be buying that stuff and worrying about it being searched, I don't suspect you will be getting 89 upper deck any time soon

Hi, hello, how are ya? image

Probably just stuff they couldn't sell at their "Going out of business sale." It is possible there could be something valuable they are not aware of but it is more likely you will be struck by lightning twice and be the lotterys big winner all on the same day.

  • hey thanks for replying, yeah im not expecting to find anything worht too much money outta this bundle, but i was just wondering if tampering and resealing was something i should be concerned about.

I not hoping for anything in particular but i did try dod some research and i think barry bonds rookie card is in the 1 set displayed in the picture, I might be wrong even though its not worth that much things like that would be nice finding and really fun aswell having never really been able to collect this stuff b4.

Well hopefully this doesnt turn out too badly... BTW are there any speacile instructions for me when opeing the packs? Just incase sopmething valuble is in them. Rubber gloves, plastic sleaves, loupe, tweasers?

    Thanks again

    Peace from Africa

image Just enjoy doing it and pulling the sports stars you want. If you're collecting, just have supplies to put them in whether it's 9-pocket pages(with a binder to store them in) OR penny sleeves and top loaders(with a box to store them in).

As for boxes, buy from a reputable source, Baseball Card Exchange is highly recommended. If you're going off something on eBay, I'd stay away from older wax packs and wax boxes, again, unless it's from a reputable dealer with great feedback. Not to say that it's all bad but it's much better to be safe than sorry.

You could probably get pretty close to the 20 pound mark I would think, although I am just guessing, I usually sell mostly single cards.
  • ok thanks

  • ok ive just checked USPS website they say that 64 ounces is the max for first calss internatinoal mail , so this might eb a problem and medium flat rate box international is 45$, anyone know any cheaper way to send myself stuff from the USA?
