Can anyone help me identify these autographs?

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, so I apologize if this isnt the right place for this. I was wondering if anyone out there could help me with identifying these autographs. My dad has had them for a while, and we've been unable to figure them out. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Pictures 2 & 3 are autographs on the same ball. Here are the pictures:

Autograph 1 (The top one is Lee Smith, but I am unsure who the bottom one is)

Autograph 2

Autograph 3

Autograph 4

Again, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
R-Mac

Not that I can figure out. They are all multiple signed baseballs.

The first autograph is on a ball with Steve Lyons, Adam Peterson, Donn Pall, Bobby Thigpen, Daryl Boston, and Lee Smith. Lyons, Peterson, Pall, Thigpen, & Boston all played for the White Sox during the late 80's and early 90's. Lee Smith doesn't fit in with any of those players other other than the fact that he played in Chicago, but with the Cubs. They all signed in what looks to be the same pen, so they were most likely signed at the same time.

The second and third autographs are on the same ball with Don Mattingly and Chris Chambliss, so I'm guessing its a Yankee ball, but I can't pinpoint the time. Again, they look to be signed with the same pen.

The fourth autograph on a ball with John Stearns, Paul Blair, Al Oliver, and Graig Nettles. Nettles, Oliver, and Stearns were all in the 1980 ASG, but Blair wasn't. Again, they look to be signed with the same pen.

The 4th one might be Manny Sanguillen but if it is it's the sloppiest one I've ever seen.

Thank you very much! It's definitely Manny Sanguillen. My dad and I were sure whoever it was, their last name ended in "field", obviously we were wrong. Thank you!

  • The third one could be an early Lance Parrish. It looks similar to the facsimile signatures on his 1980 and 1982 Topps cards, but not much like his recent certified examples.
  • Yea, it looks similar, but not it. Thanks though!

    3 - Lou Piniella (older)

Thank you very much, it's definitely an early Lou Piniella, and since you helped with that, I was able to pinpoint a year, and figure out the second one, which is Jay Buhner. I must have been signed early in the 1988 season. Thanks for all your help! Now if I could only figure out the auto in the first photo.
