Question about cards stored in binders

I recently bought a large collection with a run from mid 70's-2010,and 90% and
90% are in binders,I thought I read somewhere{maybe here} that binder storage is
not good,I have not even started to go thru them, just a quick spot check for any missing slots.

So My question is,how do you set builders store your cards?I would think the chrome cards
are proably gonna be stuck now that I think of it,been. At his house, they were stacked about 4-5 binders
tall, each goiung the oppisite as the one below it,and theres about 40-47 sets in all,all the 99 and up
are bowman,chrome,sp,etc.

Thanks for any and all help!

It depends on the binders. Normal 3" binders will tend to damage some of the card, if filled. I have some vintage stamp binds that are 1" with plastic protectors around the clasp, and they have a thick plastic dustjacket the binder goes in. I really like them and wish I more.

All you need to do is insert a piece of cardboard or plastic in behind the sheets and atop the sheets, I even do it between every 25 sheets or so. This keeps the sheets from sliding under the rings and crimping the cards, as well as provides support for the pages. I find flat storage best as mentioned.

edited to add: if you can't find inserts will 3-ring holes already punched, just make them yourself.
