Who are our resident Strait Settlements expert?

My question/observations pertain to the 1903 Dollar- there is a raised and incuse variety- Krause does not provide any detail on this- can anyone provide an explanation of the difference in the charateristics?? Many thanks

I'm not an expert, and I do the Victorias instead of the Edwards.

I need the 1901 50c piece for my daughter's 1901 Victorian type set. Luckily there wasn't a dollar for 1901, in our case.

If the 1901 50c we need is any indicator of the demand for the 1903 dollar you ask about, I'd say beware of Chinese counterfeits! They're all over the place, especially for the larger coins like that.

The only other thing I can do is be annoying by correcting your spelling: it's S-T-R-A-I-T-S Settlements. (I kinda like your "straight" take on it, though). image

okay- it is the mintmark on the crown of Edwards VII- the B can be either incused or raised- I will look at mine and see-I suspect it is the incuse B as it is more common
